Did 'Radical Optimism' age like wine?

I remember it being dragged relentlessly when released. However! After some time has passed, I think that most people have come to realize that it is one of the best albums released so far, probably the best pop album of 2024... so far! What do we think?

Oh, the switching begins after Dua gained back MPG-status with her touring demand.

The album is not even 1 years old.

Definitely a better album than some people give it credit for but I would not say "aging like wine"

it suddenly sounds like ray of light after listening to 143

its easily her best record. none of the criticisms really made any sense to me.  like i get she promised neo-psychedlia but the way people were so hung up on it was pretty annoying. while training season was underwhelming, i love houdini and illusion. and the album has some of the best pop songs of the year :cm:

I prefer the extended version album tbh the extra dramatics, pauses etc just elevates the entire album

It was amazing from the point of its release; unfortunately, people felt the need to compare it to Future Nostalgia in terms of everything from production to promotion. However, I'd wager if released prior Future Nostalgia, it would have immediately well-received.

with da exception of Maria, everything else is great

It's an 8 out of 10 to me. A little slight and not very significant but a good pop album nonetheless with a lot of bangers and pretty songs. It's well written and produced.

A few songs grew a bit on me, but it still a 5 out of 10 imo.

Aged like cooking wine, yes. In all honesty, it was an underwhelming album, even for the pop category.

It's always been a great album, just a lot more summery and laid-back (and definitely not psychedelic or ravey, but that's on Dua and the media) than the high-energy tour the force that was Future Nostalgia, and it seems like that wasn't really what the GP wants from Dua.

like a good bargain boxed wine.

Honestly, I don't really listen to it at all. I couldn't get into it when it was released and I was forcing myself to listen to it. Now I don't even feel the desire to listen to it, only occasionally Training Season or These Walls play because they are included in my go-to playlist.

It was excellent upon arrival.
