Layoffs begin at Atlantic, around a dozen artists dropped

Atlantic Music Group announced more staff layoffs as the process of remaking the company continues.

While a memo from CEO Robert Kyncl did not say how many employees would be impacted, sources told Billboard that the number will be between 150 and 175.

Already sources have said that the cuts include Margo Scott, executive vp/head of business & legal affairs & general counsel at 300 Elektra Entertainment; Chris Brown, executive vp at Elektra Entertainment and co-head of Roadrunner Records; Katie Robinson, head of marketing for Elektra Entertainment; Adam Abramson, head of sales & streaming at Elektra; and Aimie Vaughan-Früehe, executive vp/head of promotion and streaming at 300 Elektra.

300 Entertainment co-founder and current chairman/CEO of 300 Elektra Entertainment Kevin Liles is also exiting the company without replacement.

Other executives that will be leaving as part of the reorganization include Michael Kyser, president of Black music at Atlantic Records; Paul Sinclair, general manager/executive vp at Atlantic Records; Grace James, executive vp/head of marketing at Atlantic Records; and Sheila Richman, executive vp of press & media strategy at Atlantic. source

According to MBW Atlantic has this month dropped around a dozen artists from its roster, in what's perhaps the clearest signal yet that the label under incoming CEO Elliot Grainge won't be the same as before.
"When Elliot takes over as CEO of this label group on October 1, it's going to be a blank page – a new day for how Atlantic works and what Atlantic is" source

According to HDD, Atlantic executives are playing a Game of Thrones and are at war as the label has yielded very low sales and bled money.

The label's biggest mistake was a $400 million investment in 300 Entertainment which has produced no hits and no real names. Several of their artists — including Gunna and Young Thug — are part of a massive 56 count RICO Indictment from the US government.
Meanwhile, Atlantic also failed to develop new stars over the last five years
Fired CEO Julie Greenwald reportedly plans to form a new company and will try to sign Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran. source

Release Loreen's Warner vault and every job will be saved :clap3:

But seriously, shocking to hear. I honestly do think the "record label" as we know it doesn't have long left.

They should invest in Die With A Smile more, only that song can save atlantic from bankruptcy.

Now that he's married, I don't think so. It might hurt his image.
