KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) I'm so happy Katy always gets to the other side no matter what. She made hundreds of millions with spreading love and light. These "music journalists" writing hateful reviews from their basements for minimum wage can't stop her and never will. Edited September 20 by KatyPrismSpirit 2 5 2 1
BrattyBottom Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I actually feel bad for Doechii tbh. She did what she needed to do on that career low track but I hate that she's connected to it. Her craft is actually great and I don't isn't you OKH to dismiss her because of this colossal failure.

Sugden Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I'll spare you any more lyrical quotations except to point out that the best Perry can do in "Artificial," which wants to make some kind of point about the encroachments of technology, is to describe herself as "a prisoner in your prison." A prisoner — in your prison.

This is reminiscent of the rapper Da Brat, who was in the film and on the album Glitter, and his failure hit her in terms of bankruptcy. Everyone associated her with this failure.

(No, really.) By spotlighting her child's untrained warble, Perry is attempting to demonstrate the human stakes of that undertaking while showing us that, as a record maker, she's living by her own advice.

Quote The problem for Perry is that these songs are bad, and not even in a fun way. "143" is an oddly cold dance-pop album with boring melodies, utilitarian grooves and vocal performances that feel vaguely AI-derived; Perry writes and sings with none of the genuine emotional yearning or the sharp sense of humor that defined classics like "California Gurls" and the title track from "Teenage Dream," which is probably why 21 Savage felt entitled to show up in "Gimme Gimme" and rhyme "I heard you gotta jump just to put on your jeans" (OK) with "I'm like Amazon 'cause I got what you need" (jeez). "I wanna know the truth, even if it hurts me," she sings in "Truth," so here it is: "143" isn't a failure of circumstance — it's a failure of imagination.

Katy will be performing for over a 150k people celebrating love, giving out positive energy, making people's day better. And here you are wishing a meaningless review somehow will stop her

anastaciabby Posted September 20 Posted September 20 how is an artist celebrating love and light by working with THAT man? A man that took advantage of your friend? A man you tried to bring back into the mainstream? Nah, after all the lashings every other girl gets for less, I can't feel bad 10 4
Spark Posted September 20 Posted September 20 It's still crazy to me how hard she fumbled this era. The vibe when that initial Woman's World single cover dropped to now is so crazy. She and her team ****** up royally. At least before 143 she flopped with some level of dignity with Witness and Smile. Witness was embarrassing but at least she was at least trying something new with her music. Speaking on new themes, trying new sounds etc. Smile wasn't that embarrassing, nobody with a brain expected a pregnant Katy Perry during a pandemic to dominate and the music wasn't bad if not predictable. 143's rollout literally makes you question if Katy even has basic morals, it's really bad. You can't even do the whole "separate art from artist" thing cause the music sucks too. I can't believe her team couldn't have predicted this, I remember ATRL predicting this when those rumours of her working with Luke dropped a year before WW. You're Katy Perry, one of the biggest pop stars of all time with pretty much unlimited resources and you choose to make your "dance record" with has been Luke and not the plethora dance producers who actually know what they're doing? I don't even know how she'll recover for this. This era has honestly hurt even her viability as a legacy act. 6 3
