FlyPirate Posted September 20 Posted September 20 1.5/5 from Rolling Stone is CRAZY tho. I don't think I've ever seen em give that score to anything.
Riverbank Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Quote "Nirvana" is a club cut drained of its stakes, Perry wailing loudly, if not lustily, about a psychosexual union with a partner "in the diamond sky" over a thumping instrumental that feels as fresh as conference-call hold music. You know it's BAAAAD when even RS starts lashing like this 2 1 4
Komet Posted September 20 Posted September 20 4 minutes ago, DockDock said: Can someone quote a lil something from the Rolling Stone & Business Insider reviews? For an artist like Perry, who's made motherhood and "feminine divine" energy a cornerstone of her brand, it's difficult to justify crawling back to Dr. Luke under any circumstances — but especially if it was just to make something this unimaginative. Flat synths and anonymous lyrics dominate the "143" landscape. Perry was never considered a lyrical mastermind, but her signature humor, once warm, wet, and wild, has melted like a popsicle. We're left with syrupy slop like, "Kitty, kitty, wanna come party tonight / Trippy, trippy, daddy, take me on a ride," and "Yeah, I got those palpitations / Those boom-boom-booms." "I wanna know the truth, even if hurts me," Perry repeatedly sings in the penultimate track, "Truth," no fewer than eight times. Well, if that's what she wants, then I'm happy to oblige. Final grade: 1.8/10 2 12
Popular Post RideOrDie Posted September 20 Popular Post Posted September 20 all jokes aside, there's nothing salvageable on this. at least whiteness and smile had like a few really good bops on them and it actually felt like she was putting in the effort and trying. this is not even a mixtape, it's a collection of demos. no one involved in this project can seriously think they were making something of substance. it is by far her worst output to the point that it feels so offensive and disrespectful to her fans and everyone involved. contractual obligations, money laundering, humiliation kink... there must be a reason why this album was ever recorded. did she really lose all her marbles? it is absolutely baffling to me that she can be this out of touch and lacking self awareness. i am flabbergasted y'all, my empathy is overpowering my OKH senses and i'm astonished at how an artist can f*ck up at every single decision and quality control of a project, i'm begging katy perry please stop making a fool out of yourself and disappear with whatever dignity you have left. why do you hate yourself so much that you would willingly end your career to try and rehabilitate a rapist reputation on this abomination 14 12 5
SupremeGoddess Posted September 20 Posted September 20 to celebrate this wonderful moment please welcome, singing an acoustic redemption of her hit streaming song (more streams than any 143 songs) joyride, kesha 2
TouchinFree Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Oh come on, it can't be THAT bad? Is Taylor still paying those reviewers? Otherwise I'll give it a listen myself. 1

No mainstream pop artists from now on are lining up to work with him based on the CRITICAL and COMMERCIAL BOMB of an album that is 143 Go back to Tyson Trax where you came from! This gif Can't wait for the HDD thread next. Oh what a momentous week!
Infernal Paradise Posted September 20 Posted September 20 The 1.5 from Rolling Stone This gif is still safe. In fact, we might have to change it from 38 to something even lower 2
Vermillion Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Not just karma for Dr. Luke, but that wildly tone-deaf, unearned defiant tantrum of an MTV speech. Good riddance. 4 7

Luke needs to remain an industry pariah, no matter how Kim Petras tries to bring him back. 1
Riverbank Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Can Pitchfork surprise drop their review now? I can't wait 2 more days
Dula Peep Posted September 20 Posted September 20 1.5 from RS is iconic tbh... is like when Pitchfork gave Ed Sheeran a 2.8.
katara Posted September 20 Posted September 20 The user who said there is no difference between this and bRAT made all the points 2 4 3

Sugden Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Watch pitchfork give this like a 6 just to be annoying 1
BrattyBottom Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Ok, I have finally arrived, my Uber was late. I'm about to WHACK some of these critics on behalf of Lady Gottwald. I don't want to side with this lady and her choices but this is getting OUT OF HAND. They are kicking a horse when it's already dead.
