Kylie Minogue - 'Tension II'

This is rather generic, it misses the Kylie touch except for a couple songs like Taboo.

It is sad that they wasted Disco & Padam hype for a Vegas residency. She should have combined both Tension albums to make one superior album and just tour that album.

Edge of Saturday Night kind of washes the new album tracks sorry

One day people will appreciates Kylie's PEN because the melodies that come from her are so ridiculously addictive. She has co-written a LOT of her best material.

I sadly feel Disco was her peak when it comes to making dance pop, no bad songs on Tension II but nothing is stand-out either.

At first listen it sounds a bit generic but it grows a lot with a few listens. The only song I don't like is the Sia song.

Upon first listen I think this is much more consistent than Tension, then again the heights of the first album (Padam Padam, Tension) remain unmatched.

Lights Camera Action, Taboo, Someone For Me, and Kiss Bang Bang are the clear standouts, to say I was floored by them is an understatement :jonny:

I was expecting more from Good As Gone after hearing a snippet at Kylie's summer shows, but it's a good track, will probably grow on me

Diamonds is the Dancefloor of this album, inoffensive but kinda forgettable

Hello is an unapologetic Padam-rehash, which I wouldn't mind, but the atrociously produced MOM-style vocals ruin it

Dance To The Music is as if Green Light received a glow up, this will be A MOMENT on the tour :WAP:

Shoulda Left Ya I kinda don't remember after first listen, needs a few more spins

Edge of Saturday Night is still excellent, blows all the other collabs out the water, although I don't mind Dance Alone and learned to tolerate My Oh My, lol

Midnight Ride is the only true stinker, it has absolutely no business on this album :biblionana:

I feel like there's an excellent album somewhere between Tension I & II, in their current state they're both 'just' good-to-great. I'm not complaining though, I truly believe Kylie fans are the most well-fed fanbase in pop currently, and the fact she's still delivering quality albums like this is astounding :heart2:

My only criticism is that i feel she goes on a safe path with generic pop dance Kylie music releasing this year like 10 similar songs

I wish she would take a chance and go a bit harder on the gay dance scene aka Charli

I think this is more enjoyable if you think of it as a "Side B" rather than a true sequel/independent album (which it is, really)

Spoiler

cant put on a carly rae wig and be carly….

Someone for me reminds me these balkan summer songs they used to release 20 years ago and they were smash radio hits on that area

This is light years better than Tension 1 though. Tension 1 is all filler and there's no cohesive sound to it. This commits to a specific sound. I agree that in a perfect world if she kept the highs from T1 and T2 and had that as an album from the get go it'd be a different talk but I can't really complain, she's been working non-stop for the past few years and the quality control for the most part is great.

As a Kylie stan, I hate to say it but I genuinely find this album generic and boring to listen to. There's not a single track on this album that lives up to anything on Tension (and that's not even one of her better records) so I just can't help but wonder what's the point of releasing this and tainting her momentum when she's in the midst of working on an Impossible Princess inspired album that will undoubtedly be better. She definitely didn't need a new album to warrant a tour either, so it's just a dumb decision all around.

I've been so hyped for the tour since I'm finally getting to see her live after stanning for 15+ years, but now I'm worried as hell about the setlist if it's going to be primarily consisting of these clunkers…

I think some of you had way too high expectations for something that is just a deluxe album that turned into a separate project. Even Kylie herself doesn't really acknowledge this as a "new album" and keeps saying how this is more of a companion album and that her next one will be true new album. I blame Kylie's team honestly because this could have been just a reissue. Releasing this as a "new album" is rather confusing.

Kiss Bang Bang & Hello is how you recreate a past successful single :clap3:

I hate the way she dumped the collabs at the end instead of sprinkling them throughout the album. It feels so lazy. I think Shakira did the same thing on her latest album too :skull:

honestly i think My Oh My WOULD have been the best song and commercial success here had it not been butchered so badly. a shame. it's not too late to fix it Kylie!

Yeah it's just the vocal production that's an issue. Like none of the ladies needed to be over processed

Sounds like she really wanted Ava's nachos after one listen :skull:

LCA, Taboo and Good As Gone are cute - which isn't something hard to achieve compared to the rest - but the rest are just so bland and disposable. Quick lil demos. I don't know what's happening with her, I'll need her to take a few years off and create something exceptional and note-worthy again, these writing camped songs are not cutting it.

I think you're being over critical. This a sequel album to satisfy fans and for the tour especially those that wanted full of Padam Padam and Tension and were misled by the last album. The only issues with these songs are the tiktok lengths which ruins alot of their momentum

Holding off listening to anything until tomorrow!

Reading the first reactions are so confusing, I've seen a lot of praise saying it's better than T1, while others say it's a weak b-side collection :rip:

It basically is a Padam Padam but that's not really a bad thing in my opinion

She is a Icon, a legend. Why is she not working with TOP TIER producers. Its actually upsetting.

Her vocals sound unlistenable on most of this.

I feel the same for most of her BMg work sadly :(

They should spend less on making 100 variants and put more money into the music itself

Her vocals being unlistenable is an exaggeration Jesus lol

All nine of the main tracks need proper extended 12" vocal club mixes that are at least 6 min, 30 secs long.

I'm here for it. Lets me stop the CD before My Oh My kicks in and pretend it's a perfect 10-track album

feeling nostalgic for kylie and bridges... need them to reunite fr

this album has some cute moments! but the padam-chasing makes it feel a touch too calculated and less genuine than the usual KM fare... she's above some of these songs. i'm sure i'll listen to T2 plenty and have it grow on me... but i'm looking forward to the new direction she's hinted at for the next album.

Yeah the lack of bridges is not it. Thus is basically a tiktok Kylie album. Like its already a relatively short album with her including her collab droplets. So why do Hello, Kiss Bang Bang have no bridge and final chorus. Someone For Me has a final chorus but no bridge? Diamonds, Good As Gone and Taboo all desperately need proper climaxes
