They should've left out the collabs, slapped 4 other songs that I'm sure she has recorded anyway and just branded it as a brand new album. Why Tension II? I agree, although part of me finds it fun as she has never done a two-part album before. I do think the main reason it's called Tension II is just so that the tour can be branded as The Tension Tour, which probably generates some extra interest due to its connection to Padam Padam. Asparagus Spears Posted September 24 Posted September 24 She/the label added on the collabs to help the streams look bigger than what they would be. Because none of them bar Edge sound like Tension

I guess most people wouldnt mind if they were on the deluxe/digital edition only but they kinda take up space on the standard and thus the vinyl which is a bit strange when the deluxe edition will have solo songs especifically from this album and not songs from Sia's and Orville's 1
Gottasadae Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Go Queen and announce US dates, my wallet is ready
Burqa Posted September 24 Posted September 24 i really hope the deluxe with 3 extra tracks is a thing, the more the better 1

I mean, knowing just 4 of the songs, the inconsistency in musical direction and quality is already WILD, it puts the original Tension and Kiss Me Once to shame, lol To me it seems obvious this was put together for the sole reason of launching the tour, but I admire her for committing to a full-fledged project instead of opting for an EP or a lazy 'tour edition' of Tension. At the very least I'm sure we'll get a handful of top tier bops, Lights Camera Action sounds massive already She kind of confirmed this during Tension rollout by saying she had no clear direction for the album unlike her previous ones (country and disco), it was mostly a compilation of tracks she recorded and thought they were really good, I do think they somehow tried to give it direction or at least make it consistent but at the end of the day it has no direction. And Tension II follows this same path which honestly, I don't mind, maybe she's just trying and experimenting with different sounds to see what her next chapter is going to be and I'm all here for that, I want her to just enjoy the moment and I'm grateful for having so much new music from her, I know LCA it's going to be kinda basic but I'm perched af. 4

Midnight Ride, Dance Alone, MOM, and EOSN got barely anything in common and are obviously not all of the same caliber I know it's common these days to put together albums that sound like mixtapes, I'm just used to Kylie having more of a vision She never made a bad album in my eye, so I'll probably love it anyway Tension also has a mixtape vibes, with new songs and demos from Disco. For all we ask, it's indeed a continuation of the same project, since it fits pretty much the same style of mixing things all together. Don't get me wrong, I don't like any of the collabs, specially MOM and Midnight Ride, but I wouldn't judge the album without listening to the other 9 tracks. As for albums feeling like playlist/mixtape, I don't really.... mind? I mean, at the end of the say, if the album doesn't sound good with the tracklist order it originally has, I will for sure make a playlist with a better flow.

That's true, and I guess that's pretty much the reason why I haven't connected to Tension that much. I like all of the songs, but wouldn't consider the album itself as a 'Kylie essential'. If Tension II follows the same recipe, I'm sort of glad she named it a sequel, linking the two together before moving on to a more streamlined project. Still, she's getting my coins of course and I'm really perched for the new tracks

I feel like we needed a project in between DISCO and Tension for these songs (To Be In Love, Running, Vegas Baby) to go on, along with the 80s sounding Tension tracks. A Rose is a Rose should have been on that project too Tensions started out as an 80s sounding album before they went for the new sound 1
Asparagus Spears Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) 5 ARIA nominations including album of the year for Tension. The tension single has nominations for song of the year and best pop release. Incredible! Edited September 26 by Asparagus Spears 6 1
ultraviolence.xx Posted September 26 Posted September 26 ohh i'm really glad to see the collabs are all stapled at the end on the digital version
RadioactiveLights Posted September 27 Posted September 27 The fact that this is just an expansion from a re-release makes its existence a win-win. Always happy for more Kylie 1

AdrianNicki Posted September 27 Posted September 27 In one of the interviews Kylie said that Taboo sounds like Toxic by Britney Spears "distant cousin" and Shoulda Left Ya is similar to Story from Tension. So Tension II really is just a mix of everything like the first one. I don't really know why they just didn't re-release Tension with those 10 new tracks. 26 tracks in total is not that many nowadays, especially since most of them are rather short anyways so the album wouldn't be long. It would give the album extra push. If it wasn't for that mass leak last year, I would probably combine these two albums into one in my library. It even gets confusing when Kylie describes Tension II as "not a new album". Also, Kylie is already working on another album after Tension II which seems to be inspired by Impossible Princess. At least that's what that interview implies. I hope that means it's sonically inspired. Golden was kinda that new personal album for Kylie but I didn't care about it at all since I didn't like the production. Since she's touring next year I guess 2026 release is very likely. What a time to be alive. I wish my other faves were as productive as Kylie is. sources: Kylie Minogue talks 'Lights Camera Action' and 'Tension' world tour (nme.com) Mediacorp CLASS 95 | LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! 📸🎬👏 We chat with the Princess of Pop – @kylieminogue about her F1 experience, her 17th studio album, 'Tension… | Instagram 1 1
Popboi. Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I think the next album might even be out as soon as next year, she's currently on a winning stride, she knows it and so does BMG. 1

One song, the Biff Stannard penned one, reminds me of Britney Spears megahit 'Toxic'. Another one is a more odd melancolic sister to 'Story'. And you have some more electronic dance/trance influenced songs than on the first part of Tension. One with almost an electronic samba beat produced by LostBoy. Nothing like 'Padam Padam'. The album's sound is not so cohesive. There's club Kylie. Light Years Kylie. DISCO Kylie. Overall a more dynamic, electronic edgier dance sound.
