Sabrina surpasses Olivia with 16 total weeks at #1 on the UK single chart. Gagged?

This is in part because the UK used to be on the Friday-Thursday week while the US was on the Monday-Sunday week.  I also remember many artists holding back singles for a few weeks waiting for interest to build for a big debut so it was relatively uncommon for a song to rise to number 1.  Since Taylor just didn't really play those games none of her songs from RED or 1989 went number 1 there.

Only 2 Taylor songs made it to #2 from both those eras.

Style peaking at #21 and Wildest Dreams at #40 is :bibliahh: she has some terrible chart positions for a pop girl.

That didn't prevent Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé or Rihanna (with her 25 weeks atop), did it? Taylor has less than all of those in the UK. Your math ain't mathing, darling.

She had 0 points from streaming while all the other songs from the chart had sales + streaming help boost their points.

SIO lasting like 50 weeks on the chart despite this, is extremely impressive, none of the other pop girls would be touching the top 5 if they had to compete in the streaming era with no streams.

But it helped the parent album and made it chart longer than any pop girl album... so you lose some... you gain some

Taste was #1 on Friday on the UK Spotify chart and is still #1  on the UK Apple chart. Sabrina could pass Olivia next week.

Today's update: Taste remains for a 4th week at #1 and Sabrina now has 16 weeks this year alone :jonny5:

The third chart-topper this year for the pint-size pocket rocket (five feet to be exact!) now takes Sabrina's total weeks at Number 1 in 2024 to 16 – making her the solo female artist with most combined weeks at Number 1 ever in a calendar year. Olivia Newton-John also managed 16 weeks in 1978 as part of two duets with John Travolta, You're The One That I Want (nine weeks) and Summer Nights (six weeks).
