Rep2000 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) And just like that border wall, it definitely is gonna happen. Definitely. Edit: also, Project2025 has a nationwide ban of overtime as its main goal. So in a way, he does have a way to get rid of taxes on all those soon-to-be-nonexistent overtime lol. For once, a tax break that likely will benefit almost all of you instead of the rich. I don't think you understand what this policy would actually do should it go into effect. It wouldn't help you at all. 1
Harrier Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Oh my goodness what a horrendous proposal. Let's incentivise overwork so we can burn out the already overworked American workforce even further. A disaster. Kamala ***** you better not copy this 1 1
Onyxmage Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Not him throwing anything to the wall to see what sticks. Its giving you get a car you get a car. 1

The actual plan that Trump actually have, Project 2025, would make "overtime" a nonexistent concept. https://static.project2025.org/2025_MandateForLeadership_FULL.pdf Let's put that Master degree to work, shall we? Focus on pages 603, 592, 590, 589 and 587. Especially on page 592: They want to give employers the right to choose the timeframe that overtime is calculated for. * This would further increase the power of employers to mandate excessively long shifts, such as 12 or 16 hours; they would be able to avoid overtime as long as they cut your hours in subsequent weeks. * This would destabilize household income flows, encouraging long periods of work followed by long periods of no work. This is especially backward because it allows employers to establish weird timeframe of work, like in sweatshop countries where workers can work up to 26h a day without any overtime pay. (And honestly, where do you think they get this idea from?!) And you might think "unions would never let these happen". Oh hunny, you haven't reached the part where they abolish unions next. Thank you for an actual response. But you clearly aren't up to date. Trump directly said during the debate that he doesn't support Project 2025 and has nothing to do with it. "Oh well he's lying and will support it if he's elected" Doubtful. But if he does that's what the Senate and House are for. And let's not act like Kamala and the Democratic Party has any more trust or integrity after they lied to the American public about Biden's mental and physical health until they got caught. And how they then performed a political coup and ousted a sitting president from the election. Talk about election interference. 3

Let that sink in. This project is made by the same people who came up with bills for the House republicans to sign in 2024. It's completely delusional (well, Trump IS delusional) to not acknowledge its importance or legitimacy to the GOPs when JD Vance openly acknowledges his agreement with it. 7 minutes ago, ThePopStop said: And how they then performed a political coup and ousted a sitting president from the election. Go take some meds for your TDS. This policy will literally lead to hyperinflation. also, this comment was unnecessarily bitchy. In your defense though, you are an engineer so it's not like you guys are known for your social skills. 2

In their defense, I was rude first OT: I do wonder if Trump plans to campaign on this heavily, or if this is gonna be another throwaway policy like the IVF treatments.

DougAF Posted September 13 Posted September 13 It's almost like a huge chunk of people will be able to circumvent this by moving people to salary!

It saves them a ton of money, but they can now call you on the weekends when issues arise. There is always a loophole to his "policies".
PoisonPill Posted September 13 Posted September 13 His campaign pollsters must be worried. Of course, if he wins he'll pretend he never said this.

Digitalism Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This are some dumb populist promises. They do work to get votes tho. You have to wonder what will be the consequences of this tho.

family.guy123 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 How did no taxation on tips prove to be bad policy?

TeemoR Posted September 13 Posted September 13 10 hours ago, kimberly said: this is stupid. is he tryna evade his own taxes? taxes should be based on income, not the number of hours worked. why should someone working a minimum wage job be taxed more (proportionally) than a cop who makes $300k/year due to mandatory overtime? To be honest, I wish there was a way to reward a hardworking person (eg. someone middle-low class doing 2 jobs or working overtime to support his family), but this is definitely not the way to do it.
