It's fascinating. Even when it was first shown at festivals and word of mouth was not great, the general expectation seemed to be for a mediocre underperformer. Not even the most optmistic hater could predict that this would crash and burn worse than Madame Web.

Most frontloaded $20M+ weekends (percent of OW made by Friday):
54.3% Fault In Our Stars

i just don't understand why the studio gave a greenlight to it being a musical. it's a dying genre, even West Side Story tanked and that was directed by steven spielberg and was actually acclaimed.

and then they paid Gaga millions to be in the movie only to cut her material? everything about this is a mess, i was so excited when the first trailer came out but now i'm not sure if i can be bothered to even see it.

'Boring': Gaga's movie divides critics

Quote

Lady Gaga has a flop movie on her hands, it seems.

The pop star is starring in Joker 2, which is the sequel to the hugely successful DC superhero movie that proved a massive hit with critics and fans alike.

Sadly for Gaga, she's hitched her name to the sequel, which is being labelled a "bomb" by critics who have savaged the flick now the review embargo is up.

The movie, which made the controversial decision to be a musical, has failed to impress critics and is currently clinging to a "Fresh" rating by just 1 per cent after initially debuting to 59 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

This is what happens when a director is not simply inept but chooses to actively antagonize his audience.

this is a bit misleading, the first movie was not that popular with critics. it has 59 on metacritic, compared on JFAD's 45.

the GP is a different story...

That's because of how good the first one was and the musical aspect which is a way bigger turnoff for incels than bad dialogue or acting.

Yeah, we know this is an utter disaster but since you foam at seeing her name first in places, check the Spotify charts as well :gaycat2:

Generally speaking, I never understood these reports. Who the f* applauds a movie for 10 minutes, regardless of how good it is? Don't these people have better things to do?
