Joker 2 to open with 35M+ in the US & 70M+ OS: a catastrophic flop

A multimillion budget for the movie, an equally high promotion budget, and the two main actors of the project have been promoting the film non-stop and giving interviews to every single outlet out there.

In return, word of mouth is absolutely terrible, and critics reviews are in the pits.

If predictions are correct, this will be an historical critical and comercial bomb.

I don't think so. The legs of a film is determined by word of mouth and audience/critic scores (and those are awful). This will burn out very quickly because the talk around the film is very negative hence less people will want to see it. Plus, you have to remember the first film did 250M opening weekend and the budget was 150M less :rip:

So Joker 2 indeed is a major flop. Next week is going to be even more tragic :rip:

Edit: remember also that this film needs 570M to BREAK EVEN, so even if it does 500M that's still a flop because the budget and marketing is so huge.

If it makes $500 million from box office sales alone... then it is 100% going to make a profit, once this goes on streaming and is bought by private TV channels in Europe for broadcast....

WOM was going to be terrible anyways but I bet they lost out on a good amount of money by premiering at a festival earlier :rip: the mixed reviews from there already made it far less appealing for people to see. Whilst movies like megalopolis and borderlands are going to be seen as bigger bombs, this is undoubtedly shaping up to be the biggest disappointment. Most viewed WB trailer in 24 hours, a decent promo cycle and initial expectations of this easily outdoing the Joker 1 debut; to now potentially struggling to even surpass Joker1s debut in its entire run :rip: a disaster truly

current WW debut is around 140M total by trackers; for it to get to 500M it would have a multiplier of 3.57x… there is just no way with how terrible local cinema scores and word of mouth has been that this is what's happening nn.

People act like the movie is debuting with 140k... lol.

It's not even globally out yet. If not $500 million it'll certainly goss between $280-400 million then. It's not a bomb-bomb...

The fact that it went from +150M to this...WOM really killed it. I wonder if it will even break even? :deadbanana4:

Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did, Todd

This is a complete bomb for a movie with a $200M budget :rip:

There's no mental gymnastic that justifies it I fear.

anything below 400M is below the floor of a break even point (which I'm like 99% sure is above 400M anyways). Below break even point = loss; and given that before this year Joker 1 was the highest rated R movie with 1B to a sequel on track to not make profit.. baby that's a bomb-bomb

Also the 140M prediction is from deadline, and given the fact that they are at times optimistic too.. 140M might even be generous too!

now if it does make 500M it won't be a success given expectations but it'll probably not be a major loss, that in the current state seems near impossible though

They should've never trusted his hack ass, the first one wasn't good and he has an absolutely terrible track record even without Joker. The fact that they gave him and notorious set leaver Joaquin a lot of creative freedom is a costly mistake to say the least :rip: could've just made a basic movie with him and a Gaga killing people and causing chaos and instead they made a pretentious courtroom drama with poorly utilized musical sequences.. OOF
