This performance was more interesting and entertaining than that other lady 3h gig wphew 

[State of Grace.]

After watching a high quality video, I think she did well overall. Staging, production, new arrangements, and vocals were good throughout the entire performance. I was expecting a nod to one of her iconic looks or something but it felt very 143'd aesthetically. The setlist could have been better too tbh. Closing with Lifetimes after Firework? Bffr. She could have also thrown like 1-2 songs from the flop eras because CTTR/BA/NRO/HIH are some of her all-time best.

 

Remixing the old Luke songs made them fresher, but adding two new tracks by him that sound like garbage in comparison to the rest of her classics was hilarious. The quality dip is real. She really ruined what could have been a nice little comeback.

Definitely my favourite performance of the night! Katy knows how to give us great visuals and deliver an excellent performance, there is a reason she got the Vanguard award.

 

The two new songs added in also worked well in this medley. I do wish we got something from Smile (or Witness), like say NRO, but can't fit in everything I guess.

Literally my only gripe is the she excluded Witness and Smile cause both albums featured some legitimate career highlights. Witness as divisive as it was it was her actually taking a creative risk for better or worse. While it may have been the start her chart dominance  decline it was still a streaming success. That is a fact. Smile could've actually been a proper comeback but between poor single choices, delayed album rollout, unnecessary clown aesthetic that no asked for, her pregnancy (love you daisy girl), and covid things changed obvious. 

 

Imagine if this was the rollout for Smile (keeping the retro hippy aesthetic too)

Anyway, NRO and CTTR coild have definitely been included. As messy as they were, I still enjoyed those eras.
