Doctor Dick Posted September 12 Posted September 12 One of the best performances at these VMAs. Well put together, good setlist. And the Vanguard Award is well deserved as well. 5
Homebrand Posted September 12 Posted September 12 (edited) Why is nobody talking about the Music Sounds Better x California Girls mashup omg Edited September 12 by Homebrand
CherryBay Posted September 12 Posted September 12 This performance was more interesting and entertaining than that other lady 3h gig wphew 1
State of Grace. Posted September 12 Posted September 12 After watching a high quality video, I think she did well overall. Staging, production, new arrangements, and vocals were good throughout the entire performance. I was expecting a nod to one of her iconic looks or something but it felt very 143'd aesthetically. The setlist could have been better too tbh. Closing with Lifetimes after Firework? Bffr. She could have also thrown like 1-2 songs from the flop eras because CTTR/BA/NRO/HIH are some of her all-time best. Remixing the old Luke songs made them fresher, but adding two new tracks by him that sound like garbage in comparison to the rest of her classics was hilarious. The quality dip is real. She really ruined what could have been a nice little comeback. 2
teenager Posted September 12 Posted September 12 despite the pre-recorded vocals, this was her career best performance. she really did eat.
Acuminatus Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) Definitely my favourite performance of the night! Katy knows how to give us great visuals and deliver an excellent performance, there is a reason she got the Vanguard award. The two new songs added in also worked well in this medley. I do wish we got something from Smile (or Witness), like say NRO, but can't fit in everything I guess. Edited September 15 by Acuminatus 2
insomniac Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Great performance all around! The part where she's in the harness were so cool. Reminded me how many bops she has too. 2

She will never go away, she will always millions of fans around the world, she will always have new music coming out every few years. If you don't like it, tune out now, or prepare for lifetimes.mp3 of moaning about her online.
ImsoLOUD Posted September 14 Posted September 14 the return of I Kissed A Girl I need a re-recording asap that is the sound that I thought she would go for with KP6 but nevertheless! what a star 1

She performed a medley without breaks for 10 minutes and is human. She gave it her all why are you being shadey 2

A queen Literally my only gripe is the she excluded Witness and Smile cause both albums featured some legitimate career highlights. Witness as divisive as it was it was her actually taking a creative risk for better or worse. While it may have been the start her chart dominance decline it was still a streaming success. That is a fact. Smile could've actually been a proper comeback but between poor single choices, delayed album rollout, unnecessary clown aesthetic that no asked for, her pregnancy (love you daisy girl), and covid things changed obvious. Imagine if this was the rollout for Smile (keeping the retro hippy aesthetic too) 1. Never Really Over 2. Harley's In Hawaii 3. Cry About It Later 4. Teary Eyes featuring Dua Lipa 5. Energy featuring Drake Phew Also Witness could've easily bounced back with Roulette and Deja Vu as singles hands down @ me and bookmark me 1

Witnessed ET Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Anyway, NRO and CTTR coild have definitely been included. As messy as they were, I still enjoyed those eras. 1
