cyberraga Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Literally a sympathy win bc of her vanguard performance.
Lady Claire Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I- It's not even her most iconic performance, let alone the VMAs. I knew they would come up with another award to give it to her since Vanguard winners always wins other trophies… but they could've at least made another category like "Favorite Dance song of the Summer" with a bunch of DJs and then Lifetimes, so it would be a reasonable win 1
SpaceOddity Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Literally no one knows of that Roar performance let alone considers it iconic. Is also no one weirded out about how she's going around throwing out the word feminist for the entire album campaign as if her rubbing and scissoring with another female at the VMAS while singing about being submissive to a guy isn't uncomfortably male gazey?

dman4life Posted September 13 Posted September 13 9 hours ago, swissman said: I don't know why the VMAs allowed this, it singlehandedly tears down ANY credibility they had left. I mean this isn't just a Best Pop Video Award, this is LITERALLY AN AWARD ABOUT THE LEGACY OF THE VMAS ITSELF. For them to so blatantly award a clearly non-iconic performance that wasn't even in the top three most iconic performances of its own night as THE MOST ICONIC VMAS PERFORMANCE IN ITS 40 YEAR HISTORY is a huge slap in the face to all the more deserving nominees and the countless others that are far more memorable and iconic than this. The VMAs are known for generating legitimate water cooler moments. People watch for the simple fact of knowing something big might happen. In 2013 that was Miley's performance which generated a hoopla not seen since the Britney-Madonna-Christina kiss (or perhaps Gimme More). Skipping that as a nominee to AWARD this performance many people didn't even know occurred is not only outrageous but an insult to the VMAs' legacy. ALL OF THIS! Like ANY of the other choices woulda worked because they were literally iconic, except for Taylor but even that woulda been more acceptable given her large fanbase. They dropped the ball on this even for their already ridiculously low standards 1
C_Colstead Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This was the "most iconic" VMAs performance over M, Britney, Bey and Gaga? The ones whose performances are actually iconic and remembered? M, Britney, Bey and Gaga, I'm so sorry.
