What a ridiculous take. Those politicians, but especially Obama, didn't make "anti-gay" the centerpieces of their campaigns. Most even supported civil unions and were open to changing their mind on the issue of marriage and looking at other pro-gay policies by the 2008 presidential election. And eventually they did improve! Compare that to Trump and current Republicans who are now doubling on anti-LGBTQ rhetoric to the point where nuts are threatening businesses with violence for even supporting us.

 

And that's just one issue. Not the gotcha that you think it is. Currently as we speak, they are working with extremely dangerous rhetoric that would impact Haitian immigrants and black Americans at large. Currently as we speak, they are looking for ways to limit abortions as much as they can and trying to subvert the will of the people. Currently as we speak, they're already lying about the election being stolen 💀 

 

Dealing with family and disowning is an obviously complicated topic. But don't pretend that these two camps are remotely the same.

Sabrina's rise was obviously planned and something she really wanted, hence 6 debut albums in 9 years. While it felt like for Chappell , it wasn't planned, she didn't want it and just kind of fell into it?

She wanted it so bad. I remember when she was dropped from Atlantic she was crying on Instagram because she said she wanted to be known and succeed and here she got it but obviously nothing is what you expect when you wish for fame. Because wanting it it's a thing and having it is a WAY more different and difficult thing.

 

I think Sabrina has been in the spotlight for so much more and has the training since her Disney days so it's much easier for her but that doesn't mean she's just living a life in a normal way. She still has the eyes around her and is the girl of the moment

My family has so many deeply-rooted issues, but one thing I will say is that they NEVER vote against their interests. I guess some people are just privileged enough to not have to worry about the real-world implications of politics.

The poor/working class population has switched from left-leaning to right-leaning in the last couple of decades because of multiple factors, including the left leaving them out of their political agenda, the right snatching up that spot (in message, not in policy) and the state doing next to nothing to help better their conditions, they've actually worsened them with the crackdown on unions 

 

There's a plethora of reasons why people vote Republican although from our perspective it would not make sense. The best thing for Chappell to do is to stay in contact with them and talk and hopefully persuade them to change, although that's going to be very hard

Absolutely! I also worry about echo chambers becoming even more prevalent.  

Americans are left wondering why there is a loneliness epidemic, yet people have the expectation we should only engage with those who meet our personal purity test. All we're left with is divided echo chambers on both sides.

It's so crucial to meet people where they are, try to understand their lived experiences, and consider even their unreliable sources that shape their perspectives. Real change in opinions can happen once genuine community is formed.
