Also while some information could be gleaned from this, there's no guarantee that they'd empathize with you, so at the end of the day it seems like a lost cause imo. Exactly. 1

Saintlor Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I don't get what they're complaining about? They are financially set for life. Don't want fame but want to be a singer? Stop promoting your music and just release it with no promo and no social media 1
Gov Hooka Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Not everyone is so blinded by partisanship that they rip their own families up over it… this is the quintessential gay experience, to force yourself to continue having relationships with folks who won't fully accept you. 2

RatGod Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Swifties trying to set her up with this as if it's the same situation with taylor. Chappell grew up in Missouri, republican country. The people she spent her formative years around, the friends she made growing up, neighbors, etc. are all likely republican. A LOT of y'all can relate. Just like you, she's not going to cut people off who she's known for most of her life, and especially before she was famous bc they're republican. It's also not like Chappell isn't vocal about her own beliefs. Turning down an invite from the white house to perform less than a year after your big break takes a lot of guts. What's different about taylor's situation is that she publicly poised herself as an activist, a champion of feminism, and vowed to never remain silent again because she "wants to be on the right side of history." Suddenly, she gets a football player boyfriend and she's buddy buddy with someone who is vocal about her support for trump while she herself has remained entirely silent, even not even going so far as to send trump a cease and desist when he used her likeness to fake an endorsement. 1 5

Stop promoting your music and just release it with no promo and no social media They've both been in the more "irrelevant" side of the pop scene for a decade and probably thought they had it all figured out moving forward after so long, suddenly 2024 strikes and their whole dynamic changed. There's a whole lot of thoughts that can come with that their personal lives changed forever, there's more expectation and pressure to be a certain thing and be successful, everything they do is now magnified in a way they didn't face or probably even expected on that already decade long careers. It's a shock to the system, and they must be glad they're not alone. Edited September 10 by Popboi.
wastedpotential Posted September 10 Posted September 10 The usual outcome of social polarization to such a degree that people with opposing viewpoints no longer socially interact is civil war (and I can link more too, this is pretty universally agreed). I'm not gonna link to my own thesis on this topic, but us having this conversation is not a good sign. I hope y'all are making plans. 4
AvadaKedavra Posted September 10 Posted September 10 One of the things older pop stars often say is that they would have loved to have more time to enjoy their rise to fame and all the wonderful moments, but they were too busy. It's a race, and there's no way to slow down until much later.

AvadaKedavra Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) Omg not another taylor situation. Im too tired to make another statement and read chappell ideas about politics and the conversations here so, i will say only one thing. I blame taylor Edited September 10 by AvadaKedavra
Bloodflowers. Posted September 10 Posted September 10 She's making common sense for us who live in conservative area and understand how our family thinks 1
PoisonPill Posted September 10 Posted September 10 The Gen Z Gaga and Katy except they're actually friends 1
AlbumOfTheYear Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I won't judge her for this knowing that she's also LGBT, unlike other women. That comes with a way more complicated dynamic when dealing with repubs/conservative family.
Price of Fame Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) This is perfectly normal to people that aren't chronically online and don't need to touch grass @ this turning into a Taylor thread Edited September 10 by Price of Fame
kellebrity98 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) love how some gays claiming that they're complaining and it's very disgusting. you do your shift at McDonalds and go home but they're in the public eye, millions watching every step of yours which is very hard for your mental health. stop acting like this is a new thing since many tragedies happened like Whitney or Amy where they had no one to rely on. both made millions of dollars but they chose to end their life. if i had the chance i'd rather do my normal job, have a fine salary, go home and live my life without anyone watching all my steps. i'm happy that they found each other and can talk about their fears and how to overcome them. Khal Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I feel like they have very different experiences that I'm not sure they can relate to each other? Sabrina's rise was obviously planned and something she really wanted, hence 6 debut albums in 9 years. While it felt like for Chappell , it wasn't planned, she didn't want it and just kind of fell into it? 3
Relampago. Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Family, I get. My family is incredibly conservative and I still love them and they love me. Friends… I mean sure but I would rather have friends around me that share my values. If friends don't share my values, they're more of acquaintances than someone I would trust to call a friend— which to me is someone I can depend on and trust in hard times. Besides, I wouldn't want someone to change their beliefs just for me, just as I wouldn't for someone else. But I also don't think I would be friends with someone who says: "well yeah.. your human rights are important but I wanna make more $$$ from my portfolio!!" Like… more power to ya Chappell. Couldn't be me though. I also don't like the mention of "kids who grew up on the coast". California, Washington, Oregon, New York, etc are obviously more blue than Missouri but girl… lots of people are born there that have to deal with this too. You're not special just cause you were a white woman growing up in conservative Missouri, lots of kids in these blue coast states are also mistreated by family and friends and have to bite the bullet just to keep people in their lives. Everything she says I agree with generally, even outside of this statement/interview, but then she always takes it to that slightly "holier than thou" or borderline condescending place that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Love her and her music, but I do have to roll my eyes at her every now and again. 1 1
