Apple's AI is stuck with USA while Samsung & Google provides AI to whole world. Why?

Who cares? Ain't nobody using AI everyday anyway considering it's still pretty unreliable. Even that AI object erasing thing (which I would consider the most useful out of all features excluding photo search) is something that you can easily achieve with one of the many apps out there.

AI is the just the gimmick phone manufacturers are using to justify upgrades since it's getting harder and harder to do it with hardware upgrades only (which are incremental and not particularly groundbreaking anymore), soon the focus will shift on something else mark my words.

right lmfao

smartphones have peaked and they don't know where to go from there so they come up with useless features like that (only to lock them behind a paywall like samsung after some time despite making it the main feature of their new phone)

one of the biggest inventions of the 21st century, AI, going mainstream is just a "gimmick"?? okay :rip: when ChatGPT got released literally whole world was shocked at it's capabilities and everything just grew even faster after that. calling AI gimmick is like oldheads in the past saying smart phones won't control our life :rip: having AI at your fingertips as an assistant is not a gimmick and I almost use it DAILY.

okay but no shade nobody except tasteless locals would use that feature to put a fake boat on a picture like... what aesthetic is that pls :rip: and that feature is gonna be locked behind a paywall in 3 months so most users won't even use it pls...

for once i'm not even saying apple is better because i seriously couldn't care less about that feature lol but let's be real... you can't even praise samsung's ai because you'll have to pay for it soon. i'm just gonna use chatgpt tbh :skull:

Girl... obviously I'm not saying "let's add boat to all of our pictures yaaay!!" i posted it to show how behind Apple is, since their object removal tool isn't even working well while Galaxy AI perfected that & now you can add objects too instead of just removing them. The possibilities are endless, you're just too narrow-minded. Yes it'll be used, literally just added stars to one of my night pics yesterday and it looked so cool & realistic :rip:

Everything is becoming subscription based. You should know this better than anyone else as an Apple user. The features you're talking about that will be subscription based after 2025 are the ones that require internet, not on-device AI capabilities. On-device ones are the most used ones anyways, and since I already have Google One subscription and it comes with AI upgrades, it won't affect me & many others. Don't think that all of Apple's half-baked AI features will stay free forever lol.

I didn't say that AI is a gimmick, I said that it's the gimmick smartphone manufacturers are using at the moment to entice people to buy their products, there's a big difference. It's not the first and it won't be the last.

Also you're literally proving my point :skull: Notice how the assistant is giving you suggestions based on a very specific snippet of text without taking into consideration the rest of the discussion. While those points may actually be useful, they don't necessarily apply to this discussion since we're talking about implementations of AI for smartphones in this thread, not general AI usage.

I'm not proving your point. Do you not realize that the screenshot shows like just the %10 of the whole text? You haven't even read the whole thing. Even if you're only focusing about "AI for smartphones", yes they're insanely helpful and they add so much to your overall experience, there are many things that I easily do on my phone with AI which would've taken minutes or hours on my PC. I used object eraser SEVERAL times on my Instagram pics, I remove humans and some other things from background that I don't like, and it never bats an eye, with upgrading the overall look a lot. I don't need Photoshop to do this. Sometimes I write a really lengthy text in my main language and if it's a serious topic about the job/education etc, I ask Gemini to reword it and it works flawlessly in just seconds. I use Circle To Search EVERYDAY, whenever I see something on social media or literally anything in general, and want to learn more about it. I use it to easily copy/paste things from my pictures, extract text and numbers easily and more too. These are JUST the features that I use almost daily, so i'm not even talking about the ones that I less frequently use. If I had a S22 series that had no Galaxy AI, I wouldn't have been able to do any of these at all. So how is this gimmick? (Mind you previous S23 series and all the upward models have AI while only iPhone 16 and upwards have the AI features).

Yes you are proving my point, I don't have to read the rest of the output to understand where the AI assistant is going with that suggestion because it's clear from that screenshot that it's analyzing my initial comment separate from the context of the discussion. And if you don't believe me, believe Google: "Gemini can make mistakes, so double check it", it's right there.

You're also under the impression that I used the word gimmick in a negative connotation, which wasn't the case. A gimmick can be useful, but it's still a gimmick if it's used to attract attention and convince people to buy something, which is exactly what is happening in this case.

I'm glad AI helps you so much in your everyday life, but I can assure you that as of today the majority the GP don't really care about AI tools on smartphones that much. Features like the ones discussed in this thread have been out for months on Google and Samsung smartphones, yet you don't really see people ditching their old phones to get new ones for AI functionalities.

Yes you have to read the whole thing to criticize the output. It's a lengthy text and I didn't even use a serious input there which i could've, i just told it to read what you said and explain why you're wrong lol, this was done to show how easy and accessible it is. Every AI app has that warning you're talking about so locals don't mistake them with always being factually correct. Also you're changing the topic, you're technically wrong with your gimmick description and contradicting yourself then - because Apple is the one using AI features to make "people buy new phones", not Samsung, since as I said Samsung already brought all those features to their previous devices. Yes, they're not ditching their phones because they already got it as an update. S24 series got introduced with AI and then later on everything got added to S23's, Z Fold 5's, Z Flip 5's and others that were capable. No one had to upgrade their phone specifically for AI features, which is what Apple is trying to do currently. And if you were using S21 older series, then your device is just old now in general anyways and by upgrading you're upgrading your phone for bunch of things, not just AI.

Ok then, since I'm so wrong please provide the entire text showing that the AI assistant actually took the context and nuances of the thread into consideration when it provided that answer, I'll wait.

I'm not gonna Google the meaning of "gimmick" for you because I'm sure you can do it yourself. Yes AI functionalities are a gimmick and yes they're also a gimmick when Apple (or any other company for that matter) use them to market their products. Google did it, Samsung did it, there's literally nothing wrong with it. My original point was that most people are not using AI tools on their smartphones every day because they're still quite unreliable and I stand by it.

Also, once again, you're making it seem like Apple is the big bad guy for not making Apple Intelligence available on most of their products when... They're literally doing what Samsung has done? Every device with compatible hardware will run Apple Intelligence, territory limitations (like EU) are subjected to laws rather than hardware capabilities. Apple itself has low expectations for the sales for this specific lineup compared to previous years, which goes to show they do not forecast consumers to rush to get the latest electronic device just because it has AI capabilities embedded into it.

It's always just a bunch of arguing over the most useless and pointless features.

Some people are tech enthusiasts, it's one of their hobbies, they love talking about it, they love following the news, etc. This is not any different than comparing albums or talking about artists which happens countless times everyday on this site.

This. I'm also just sick of AI in general :rip: I wish this **** never became a thing and can't wait until it phases itself out but there's a lot lazy and special people who rely on it so I think this genuinely might be the future :deadbanana2:

does anyone actually currently use any AI model besides chatgpt? the only time ive seen gemini being talked about was when it got bashed for being incredibly unreliable. The slow rollout is silly for a company that used to be ahead of the curve for sure, but the main draw of apple intelligence is its perceived privacy benefits that the others do not have yet. There's a reason why El*n had a whole meltdown when apple intelligence was announced lol

I have a new Samsung Flip 6 (a HUGE upgrade from a Xiaomi Mi 9 from 2019 lol) and despite all the AI touting it has, I can't say I ever really need to use it. Like I know it can summarise pages quickly and reformat text but like... I'm a communications professional, I would like to think I can write what I want to easily enough.

Because Apple is destroying international relations while Samsung is bringing the global community together. Hence wgy, Samsung is the preferred device of choice.

I'm an American and I am perfectly happy in the Apple ecosystem, but I have next to no interest in Apple Intelligence. Could not care less. The only new feature of interest to me that might be (stupidly) powered by Apple Intelligence is the email categories in the Mail app. Could not care less about AI emojis and any of that other dumb s***.
