Josh Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Seems like a more logical step than "Sometimes", it's still dance-y like Baby One More Time compared to Sometimes which was a pure pop ballad. BTMYH should have been a single in the States
A-V-XYZ Posted September 10 Posted September 10 BTMYH would've flopped like FTBOMBH if it was released. 4 1 5

Hector Posted September 10 Posted September 10 The only misstep of the debut era. Would have been bigger than either Sometimes or From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart.
theweekend Posted September 10 Posted September 10 never knew. although sometimes really sounds like a US hit, BTMYH is the better song. 3
Bey_Rihstan Posted September 10 Posted September 10 crazy (remix) should've been the 2nd single and included on the album tbh. I think it would've been a sure fire top 5 after BOMT smashed. I don't see anything significantly changing with the other singles no shade but she didn't have much to choose from on that album so releasing Ooops right after makes perfect sense 1

Scandalous Posted September 10 Posted September 10 it shouldve been a single but instead of FTBOMBH, not sometimes 1 1

Nightingale Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Sometimes makes sense to give something different. It should have replaced FTBOMBH which was just not good. It that went top 20, then BTMYH would have easily been top 10 1 1
Jay07 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) I think US was eating up those AC ballads at the time so it makes sense they released FTBOMBH. It was still the decade of Mariah/Celine after all. Edited September 10 by Jay07
poki Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Her label overall had some odd choices in every album cycle. - They didn't push DLMBTLTK in the US which is Shania's main market (she co-wrote the track, that alone would have sparked attention) - They wanted Bombastic Love to lead the 3rd album () - Didn't want to release Toxic () So I suppose this is BOMT's mystery haha.

gagacasanova Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Because Americans are tasteless rats. Spoiler Both are BOPS but BTMYH >>>>>
crf13 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Her A&R from that time period mentioned on a podcast that BTMYH didn't test well with American radio programmers. They were tasteless. Much like, how they relegated Deep In My Heart and Autumn Goodbye to bonus tracks outside of the states bc the label didn't think the songs would be received well by the American public in the way they would be by Europeans. 2

BTMYH is my favorite from her debut, but FTBOMBH is a classic and whenever she decides to come back I'll manage her to her comeback remix with La Factoría with this smash.
blown away Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Sometimes was a good single choice. However, BTMYH should've been the fourth US single instead of FTBOMBH. That one should've remained an album track.
