Is Beyoncé's CMA snub foreshadowing the Grammys?

I can see both. On the one hand the Grammy country voters and/or committee have already shut her out before when they deemed Daddy Lessons ineligible for the Country categories (I've also wondered if Beyoncé may have actually been referring to this when she said she felt unwelcomed, even though the 2016 CMA thing was the bigger story and is the one that comes to mind the most).

On the other hand I can also see them wanting to rectify the CMA snub by embracing CC at least in Country nominations, and general categories as well. Winning though, that's another story, sadly I don't think she will win many, even though she def deserves to.

Unfortunately no. papa knowles and jay-z are already writing checks and searching for blackmail material to secure undeserved noms and wins.

Umm no

We knew that before the album was released.

Yeah, she is most likely not getting any nomination for the album, maybe one for Texas Hold'em. I think she doesn't care either.

She deserved AOTY for Rennaisance though.

I love Beyonce and CC, but the country committees (CMA, ACM, ACA) are extremely hard to sway with awards unless you started in Country. It's much more harder to break into the Country scene than Country singers breaking into Pop, sadly. :katie:

I mean.. no?

CC still has some of the best vocal production of any other album this year. The Grammys would be more keen on that factor. The CMAs not so much, especially when vocal high lists consist of Opera and her more R&B forward harmonies.

It is very shady of them to snub Texas Hold 'Em tho. It was smash and broke records as a black woman on the country charts. I'm just not shocked by it at all.

she'll have to submit to more pop categories, or the grammy's can try to spite the CMAs and pretend to have some moral high ground.

it'll be interesting

No. She's getting nominated.

I wonder what genre she will submit the album to. I'm thinking if it's not country, then Americana.

The country bloc will absolutely not vote for her but she will get support from the pop, rnb and hiphop blocs. That should secure her nominations. Now whether she wins is a totally different story.

Yes, she will lose AOTY, that's going to Eternal Sunshine

None of Beyoncé's albums have ever went home empty handed and that isn't going to change with CC.

Is it a snub or is it fairness? Let's start from there.

Cowboy Carter is not a country album. IT has one song that is country - Texas hold em.

Beyoncé's not going to win Album Of The Year again! CC was basic and boring! Deal with it!

there's not liking it and then there's lying about its attributes to illustrate your feelings towards it...

So Jolene is no longer a country song?

And what you mean to say is it has one very traditional country song. Because there are plenty of country elements, stylings, instrumentations, and lyrics throughout the entire album.

The Grammys have black people involved, such as Matthew Knowles, so no, I don't think her being rejected by a racist white establishment is a sign of anything.

She sang "AOTY I ain't win, I aint stuntin bout them take that sht on the chin" in it so they could be as unforgiving as the CMA for this callout.

Kanye pissed on his grammy trophy and won one a year later :dies:

OT:

no cause she even got random noms off flops like Spirit
