fememeist Posted September 5 Posted September 5 After PTTR, it felt like Doja was in the GP's good graces and this song was the song that fans and the GP agreed upon as the next single. I mean it stayed on the Hot 100 for almost 40 weeks, but it stalled at #7 and it felt like a lower top 30 hit(if that's where most of the songs weeks spent). What could Doja have done to make this as big as PTTR?
IBeMe Posted September 5 Posted September 5 It's one of my most played songs of all time. It's so sexy and cute and kind of nostalgic but futuristic? idk I just love it. That said, it kind of did smash tho no? Didnt it do really well on streaming and radio? It didnt become a mega hit but it did really well for Doja and kind of saved this album era for her since after PTTR nothing was holding the album and era over so Agora Hills really helped revive the era a little

Johnny Jacobs Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Her best song in a while. I played it alot when it came out but grew tired of it after a few days and forgot about it. Girl didn't promote much either after the album dropped
commander Posted September 5 Posted September 5 It kind of did for a while specially on AM. But yeah, it's a shame it didn't smash
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted September 5 Posted September 5 (edited) It's one of her best songs and did pretty well on streaming and Tik Tok. Not every song needs to be a smash hit and I'm sure she's happy with its performance, especially with how the ringtone aspects of the song could turn some of the GP/casuals off yet it still did well. bielneira Posted September 5 Posted September 5 It had a decent performance. If her and her team wanted it to smash, they could've made it.
LustSpell Posted September 5 Posted September 5 (edited) Huh?? It did pretty damn well and charted for a long time. It wasn't a SMASH like Paint The Town Red, but it was still a big hit. This is a song that showed her versatility a little which definitely helped Scarlet come off as a bit more well rounded. It exceeded what it needed to do Edited September 5 by LustSpell
ithinkheknowsoutsold Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Nearly 600 million streams, a top ten placement on the Hot 100 + almost 40 weeks on the chart, and a number one placement on pop radio isn't taking off? It was a bit of a local affair, but a successful one at that.
tjspy Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Didn't it smash mostly as much as Woman (#7), but perhaps even more because it had way higher points (it was above 10m streams and 60m radio meanwhile Woman was doing 7/8m weekly when it was in region, it really just went top10 due to lack of competiton unlike Agora Hits). Besides, the peak not being higher was just a normal case of peak radio happening when streaming was already dead. The song not only felt big, but was statiscally big and one of her biggest. Isn't this gonna be really high on year-end chart?
JustHoran Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Yall saying this is a hit when I've never heard this song in my life. 1
Rihinvention Posted September 5 Posted September 5 It was a TikTok smash. The only people who would ever say it wasn't a hit are people who check the charts (aka us) and even then, it did pretty well.
Ewan Chaos Posted September 5 Posted September 5 It's going to be like top 15 or something in the year end hot 100 for 2024 HUH???
