Mikeymoonshine Posted September 4 Posted September 4 She could still win awards but even if she doesn't I don't imagine this movie will flop, she's already proven to be a draw so she'll still have her pick of roles. She just needs to get something good, she could literally just go up for Oscar bait roles until she wins at this point she doesn't need the money bigger roles pay.
Jay07 Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Gaga seems to be the high point of the film again so honestly she probably needs to make better choices in material and director. Todd Phillips is a hack. That said, I don't know if this will appeal to the same audiences that made the first one a hit, considering it's a musical and it stars Lady Gaga. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. 2

Musicmajor Posted September 4 Posted September 4 The first one was also panned by critics and the movie went on to make over a billion dollars at the box office.
MonsterTown Posted September 4 Posted September 4 the gaga praise is there again! looks like critics are on Todd's Neck. but they did the same with the Joker 1 and got 1Bboxoffice so. 1

This definitely will not have the legs of the original. Again, it'll be profitable, but it won't come close to $1 billion

This bold ass lie, and she did not have starring roles in Sin City or Machete Kills. A Star is Born Budget: $36 million Gross: $436 million House of Gucci Budget: $75 million Gross: $166 million Would have been nice for J:FAD to have had better than mixed reviews but it's 100% making back its $200m budget, especially given it's going to be shown in China. 10 3
Erreur2 La Nature Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Maybe Kukai was too ahead of his time for certain people 4
Domination Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Not surprising. The movie was never going to do above 70 unless it was a rare stroke of brilliance. I have a feeling it will be less musical and less Gaga than expected hence why some critics are calling it wasted potential. 1
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I'm lowkey glad that the movie got panned as a karma for Joaquin for dropping out of Todd Haynes' gay movie DAYS before production began. Assh*le Godga carrying the film's acclaim on her back and getting the pushed instead of him would be delightful 3
Aston Martin Posted September 4 Posted September 4 4 minutes ago, Radical Pessimism said: praising gaga is the cool thing to do so that's why they're doing it. I don't think they're really honest about it. so praising her is considered cool. good problem to have tbh. and not all of her peers can relate Sad that she got sidelined for a second movie in a row though. Please work with a female director next Gaga!
