To better suit the film's aesthetic (and match Phoenix's method of performing his songs in character), Gaga lets Lee have a breathy, pitchy style to her singing, only opening up the throttle during some of the fantasy musical numbers. It's a performance that recalls Ellen Greene's Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors," demonstrating Gaga's huge range. What's even better is how she's able to tap into the psychological realism of Harleen in a similar fashion to Phoenix's take on Arthur...Harley comes to life in a way she never has before, her madness and obsession parallel yet distinct from Joker's. https://www.slashfilm.com/1653083/joker-2-review/ 8/10 OH WOW I'm so excited
Solar Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Not Gaga's acting saving the movie rating and that's a mixed Recepcion so far, not panned
Reginald Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Send it back and re-edit it as a Harley-only film Joaquin, who?

Kylizzle Posted September 4 Posted September 4 If she goes supporting she can easily win the Oscar. She shouldn't run a Gladstone'd lead campaign.

Price of Fame Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I feel very confident Gaga isn't happening regardless of what category she was in (obviously we know now that it's not a lead role)

She needed to anchor the movie, but it looks like she was great technically while the movie is still Joaquin's show…. She was totally absent in the second(?) act of HOG too iirc, but yeah if the entire last hour of this film has no Lee in it then it'll be hard campaigning as lead. I'm kinda confused because everything from the promo to the billing to the interviews screams co-lead. But then again if Hopkins won with 16 minutes of screen time then Lee has a chance, and Best Actress looks a hot mess atm. She kinda needed the film to have better reviews to happen though. You're telling me you saw the first Joker and expected Gaga to be walking around in lingerie with pink and blue hair, walking around with a cartoon accent and calling Joker "Mista J" every five minutes like… be for ******* real 1 1 10 1
