So when it gets a 60% rating on RM (I mean...), it's "Gaga's JFAD", but when it gets bad reviews, it's not her fault, "she's just a star, she didn't write it blah blah blah". Am I following you correctly?

Yeah it's also clear that she's been very carefully picking her roles to somewhat align with her overall persona. ASIB she was playing a pop star, obvious. House of Gucci fits into Gaga the over the top fashion-forward diva with an underlying darkness. Harley Quinn is in the same boat. If she did a Tarantino movie next (one can dream) that would be a great fit. Cleopatra would be too.

She basically is going for either music-related or larger than life anti-hero type roles, something fun and glamorous that allows her to put on a show acting-wise and visually. Those roles are scarcer and harder to come by, she's not playing like a housewife or a depressed author or whatever Kate Winslet is doing nowadays.

Now why is Kate Winslet catching strays in here

Gaga will win in the end. She always does. I'm surprised some OGHs are still brave enough to come for her after years of losing :clap3:

Is the biggest critique that it's a musical?

no the biggest critics are that there are too many long dialogue scenes in a courtroom and that there is too little of Gaga. Apparently Gaga was heavily edited out of the film despite having filmed some potentially iconic scenes.

So even the worst reviews are praising Gaga and majority of them are mad she's not in it enough? :oh: OGHs are scared.

Well the reviews are especially stanning for Gaga so it's more like realism at this point

I'm not saying Gaga can't win an Oscar for this because she definitely could but it would be unusual. Yes Pheonix won for the last one which also got mixed reviews but the academy also dislikes sequels so there's a lot for her to overcome to win. She just needs to star in a good movie, the academy loves her they will give her an acting Oscar eventually.

This is giving Gucci to me, where the film had mixed reviews while Gaga was praised. And a mixed score doesn't matter for the award season, look at Bohemian Rhapsody and even the first Joker film :skull:

I'm more nervous with the GP reaction cause it's def a love or hate film. There's no in between. It will be a mega hit or a massive bomb.

Anyways i already got my tickets for the early première at my local theater and i'm super excited regardless :giraffe:

If they really removed the staircase scene where she was singing thats entertainment i'm gonna be pissed, that was giving academy award alone

When she eventually starts her press run and campaign about her acting process for this mediocre movie, it's going to be a kii and a cackle. Seated!

the scores already being so low is not good but if it's a box office smash and she campaigns in supporting she might sneak in. i can already see her getting in at the globes (they have six nominees now instead of five and they love nominating superstars)

Notice how even the panning-est reviews are talking about how Todd Phillips "wasted Gaga" and praised her performance...

:gaygacat4:

Ridley Scott & Todd Phillips both mistreated ha. Using her star power and then making the focus of the movies on some boring males

Time for Gaga to start working with prestige directors who aren't past their prime.
