Doogle Posted September 4 Posted September 4 (edited) 18 years of gorgeous screaming and beautiful loud instruments, what's everyone's fave on her best 2000s album right now? It's now old enough to drink legally in the UK. What drink would B'Day order first? Spoiler I was gonna make a birthday thread but since she refuses to promote or release videos and 43 is unremarkable we really dgaf about her right now Edited September 4 by Doogle 8
glitch Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Freakum Dress, Get Me Bodied, Deja Vu, Ring The Alarm, Green Light...she was not coming to play with this album
LVP Posted September 4 Posted September 4 My favourite! My fav song has been changing but for some time now is Suga Mama! the vocals, the instruments! 5 5
americanlife Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Has to be her best album. This is Bey at her QUEEN BEY level. When she was a bombastic star, when she was a diva (female version of a hustler). She regained some of that with Renaissance, but it's just not the same. Where's my Queen 🐝❓
MerveAksak Posted September 4 Posted September 4 My fave beyonce album tbh... I think it embodies everything Beyonce is
liquiddiamonds Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Suga Mama, Kit Kat, Get me Bodied, Ring the Alarm, Deja Vu, Upgrade U and Irreplaceable all BOPPPPPPPs
Flanders Posted September 4 Posted September 4 the singing on this album is crazy. I feel like albums with loads of ballads are typically the ones hailed for vocals but this album has some of the most crisp, challenging vocals I have heard even a song like Get Me Bodied the singing is just wild. might be her best album idk 2
ONOPKA Posted September 4 Posted September 4 i LOVE this album a real highlight in her career freakum dress remains top 5 in her discog. kitty kat is an underrated bop.
Comedor Posted September 4 Posted September 4 A classiqué. Let me stream it from beginning to end in this special day.
dejmieeen Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I feel like this album is criminally underrated. Bop after bop after bop. 2
ScorpiosGroove Posted September 4 Posted September 4 here come the old people calling this her best album 2
mons†er Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Beyonce was 25 and it was the first time she had an all female band. The album took two weeks and she even went on to create the first ever visual album, even though we didn't know it then. This album set the precedent and standard for Beyoncé's career. It is the reason why she has always experimented and was truly the first time she broke away from what was considered the musical rollout standard. I have so many fond memories of this album. The original tracklist is flawless. I remember when you HAD to listen to 'Listen' in order to hear the 'Get Me Bodied (Extended Remix)' on the CD. I even remember the BET DVD that came with the album at Wal-Mart. i'm beyond appreciative of this album because it is the reason we have 'Self-Titled', '4', 'RENAISSANCE' and 'The Gift'/'BLACK IS KING'. OT: 'Ring The Alarm' is definitely the most underrated song on the album while 'Freakum Dress' is the best vocally on the album. But 'Upgrade U' had me in a chokehold, and that video is the EPITOME of OPULENCE. 1 8
Kalmanta Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Beyoncé really said „sophomore slump, not with me" I'll never understand why Deja Vu didn't really catch on with the gp, what a masterful track. And I still dream of the day I can finally sing to Irreplaceable with 60k other people in a stadium. 1
mons†er Posted September 4 Posted September 4 4 minutes ago, Kalmanta said: Beyoncé really said „sophomore slump, not with me" I'll never understand why Deja Vu didn't really catch on with the gp, what a masterful track. And I still dream of the day I can finally sing to Irreplaceable with 60k other people in a stadium. Deja Vu followed the same formula as CIL but it was too abstract for the GP at the time. I also think the video didn't help either, especially when fans were creating petitions for her to reshoot it. I'm really happy that Beyonce didn't budge from her vision or the song but I do wish she would sing it more often. I just think B'Day vocally is really hard for her to sing nowadays.
Mariya Takeuchi Posted September 4 Posted September 4 her best song and video I feel sorry for those that didn't experience this in the clubs 6
mons†er Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I was fortunate enough to watch this in real time and the way my little black gay heart and spirit left my body during this performance I will never forget. I always say, this is the moment when she became the Beyoncé we know today. 1 7
Comedor Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Love this hymn: I'm North Atlantic Woman (N-A-W) You can log on anywhere (in North America and Europe), your girl can take you there You know I'm that type of girl International? No! SPECIFIC AREA CODE 2
Body Talk Posted September 4 Posted September 4 To this day, I don't know if I have ever found an era exciting as this.
TipToe Posted September 4 Posted September 4 The b-sides/bonus from this era were marvelous: back up, creole, www, some of the deluxe tracks... she was very inspired after Dreamgworls. 2
XVIIII Posted September 4 Posted September 4 This album brings back so many memories for me. I was in high school when this came out and my trigonometry teacher LOVED this album. She would play "Kitty Kat" when we'd walk into class. I can't believe it's been 18 years, god I'm old.
