OnlyManInTheWorld Posted September 4 Posted September 4 The song spent only 6 weeks inside Top10. Are you surprised? What happened to Ariana's chart power? 1 1 1 13
Spicy Pisces Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Isn't 24 weeks the average amount of time for a decent hit? 6
Green Posted September 4 Posted September 4 24 weeks is fine for a #1 hit Don't complain when an Ariana stan makes a thread when Fortnight leaves the Hot 100 after 20 weeks (after 19 weeks is already down to #60 ) 7 2 4
Bloodflowers. Posted September 4 Posted September 4 That's perfectly normal charting longevity especially in an era where TikTok hits and album tracks occupy a lot of spots Most hit songs spend around 25 weeks with the exception of mega-smash hits which no one claimed this song to be on the same level as Blinding Lights, Levitating, Heat Waves, As It Was etc.
cat1867 Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Good numbers. It wasn't an undying megahit but it was nice hit that had a great run.
glitch Posted September 4 Posted September 4 It's still #22 on Global Spotify, I'd say that's pretty good 4 4
NorbertMinaj Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Guess she really meant she can't be friends with the GP this time around. a shame cuz it's a great song but it did its thing.
ericcartman Posted September 4 Posted September 4 That's good. But I thought it would spend longer in the top 10, I hear song so much, it felt bigger.
genio Posted September 4 Posted September 4 24 weeks and a #1 sounds pretty good to me. Ariana's hit songs usually spent similar amount of weeks on the charts, so why should that be surpising, OP? 3
Cruel Summer Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I don't understand the question. What happened is that an excellent song lasted six whole months on the charts. 3
Badgalbriel Posted September 4 Posted September 4 That's a lot of time. The song was not a smash, just a regular sized hit. Not every song is meant to be the smash of the year. 4
liquiddiamonds Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Ariana's songs usually chart for this long. You can check her chart history on B100. We Can't Be Friends just happened to have a smaller peak in consumption in comparison to her mammoths like TUN and Positions, and it suffered with a weaker charting follow up single to keep the momentum going. Still, it carried the era and it's one of her most enduring songs worldwide in years. Once she tours it will be a great live moment 2
Zaynsus Posted September 4 Posted September 4 It's literally on par with Into You, Problem, no tears left to cry, thank u next or Side to Side (all spent between 24 and 28 weeks on the chart). Also, her longest charting song on the Hot 100 is 7 rings with... 33 weeks. That being said, I don't except it to go 5x Platinum+ like any of these songs, I hope it will though.
Mr. Duff Posted September 4 Posted September 4 At first I was also surprised but then I realized, that's six months of charting, and it went #1 and stayed in the top 10 for six weeks, so that's a well-rounded hit. I just maybe wished it could have gotten a longer stay in the Hot 100 because its first few weeks are massive but it never returned to the top ten after the Taylor bomb, it was doing amazing in the 11-20 range for a while. I guess it's more of a global hit than the US. Not to bring down any song but how has this performed compared to Texas Hold'Em? I know it did much better than Fortnight in the US and might have charted much longer.
Summer Boy Posted September 4 Posted September 4 It wasn't a smash, "just" a hit, so these numbers are good ?
Mikeymoonshine Posted September 4 Posted September 4 That's normal for her and tbh that's normal for hit songs in general. This one obviously isn't as big as some of her previous hits but it didn't do bad by any means. Plus it's still doing well globally. 1
Alaska. Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I really only stan hags because I have no idea how many weeks a song needs to chart nowadays to be considered a hit 2
