Sheep Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) It's no secret that the maximalist pop that ATRL's favs got famous off of is now the domain of Korean idol groups and a big portion of stan culture is now concentrated on these groups. Several names have come and gone over the years but a select few groups always remain ATRL relevant the way pop girls who haven't charted in decades are still daily topics of conversation here. Who's #1 though? The multi-generational favorite that still sweeps every rate to this day? The #1 girl group in almost every metric outside of Asia(yes it physically hurt to type this sentence)? The most flagrant pandering to gays in kpop history and currently most interesting act in pop music ww? The gp/gen-z darlings who had the most fumbled career of all time? Gladiator Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) My favorite is Dreamcatcher. Out of the ones listed, I would say Girls' Generation since they span multiple generations of KPOP and still are thriving. Edited September 3 by Gladiator 4
Space Cowboy Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Kpop peaked with SNSD and F(x). Any group after them just didn't have it 4
JO1s Posted September 3 Posted September 3 NJs and Aespa are the only interesting active groups. Kpop BGs really took a nose dive in quality and talent. 1
Sheep Posted September 3 Author Posted September 3 I made the poll and I can't pick between snsd and aespa myself 1 2
Kayseri Mantisi Posted September 3 Posted September 3 aespa and it's not even close FRESH and QUALITY production on the songs. FRESH and QUALITY music videos. FRESH and QUALITY music tastes from the members. a group that focuses on ART and not the CHARTS. FLAWLESS discography. comebacks that doesn't take an ETERNITY. 4 1
50thStateofMind Posted September 3 Posted September 3 of those in the poll, NewJeans...all time? 2ne1 2

The only group to get a million seller album, 12m unit moving single, sold out world tours with 5 star reviews, and still managing to be underrated. The best discography from Korea I will not be accepting alternative answers. Edited September 3 by Sheep 1
swifthino Posted September 3 Posted September 3 personally i will always be a once first if we are talking about ATRL as a whole, i would bet my vote on aespa everything they release is always wildly discussed 5
Pluto6 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) The best selling Kpop female act of all time of course, who are probably the Kpop girl group with the most hits as well Edited September 3 by Pluto6 5

LIT Posted September 3 Posted September 3 In terms of quality, cutting-edge discographies, f(x) remains unmatched for me. LOONA also deserves an honorable mention (though in hindsight, their best work was largely all released from 2016-2019, before BBC fired their creative director). Among newer groups who've debuted in the past ~5 years, I'm a STAYC truther - their discography is excellence, and in my opinion captures the uniqueness of K-Pop in a way few groups still do as the industry has become increasingly Western-pandering over time. I think in terms of overall global impact and success, it's neck-and-neck between Girls' Generation and BLACKPINK, with the former being the biggest K-pop girl group in Asia, and the latter being the biggest K-pop girl group outside Asia. 1
DanyelP23 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Kpop peaked with 9Muses and AOA. Any group after them just didn't have it 1
