liam13 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 ttpd's sound and vocal delivery are kinda boring to me and this comes from a folklore enjoyer. at least she sings in speak now 1 1
Space Cowboy Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Speak Now is a good album. Poets Department is unlisteneable trash. 1
JoeAg Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Speak Now by LIGHTYEARS like not even a competition in the slightest. one is a great pop rock album with nice country elements that feels authentic, fun, and exciting, while the other is an overstuffed, immature slog that feels somehow hollow 95% of the time. But Daddy I Love Him and Guilty as Sin? are very pleasant pop songs but when analyzing the type of artist Taylor actually is, they both could've been written in her SLEEP in 2020. as a former swiftie and still fan, I do not believe this regression is permanent. I think she'll get back on track with actually showcasing her songwriting talents again soon enough, possibly even by her next album. but if she keeps releasing sh*t like TTPD, even her most devoted fans will eventually become a bit jaded 4
ariananext Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Speak Now used to be my favourite Taylor album back in the days, now it's been surpassed by Folklore (and maybe Evermore too) but I still think it's one of her best, I can't say the same about TTPD.
Buffy Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I think she should go back to writing simpler diary-esque lyrics like her first 3 albums again….. Her lyrics since Folklore haven't been easy to memorize or sing along to. 3

Gladiator Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) Although I really like Tortured Poets Department, Speak Now is one of her strongest, most cohesive projects and has some of her best lyricism. Edited September 3 by Gladiator
