What pop girls have had a era that was created to restore their reputation?

For example; Madonna softened her image with Bedtime Stories after how chaotic the Erotica era starting with Justify My Love from the Immaculate Collection.

What pop girls have an era that was created to restore their reputation with the GP?

I don't think any main girl has ever done this. Even with bedtime stories and coadf, Madonna made the music she wanted to make and just picked strategic singles.

Yeah the sound was her own idea but the image softening was deffo her label. Its so unMadonna like image wise

143 was created to regain success but it backfired.

Joanne is another one

Britney: Circus

She was forced back into the gym, had to go back to blonde, and had to record pop hits.

I feel like the Cheek to Cheek->Joanne->A Star is Born was a response to the intense back lash following the singles after Born This Way to ArtPop. She's never been the same since.

I feel like LOUD was definitely something to brighten up Rih's image after the darkness of Rated R.

LOUD trendy dance pop coming from the underperforming rated r era

Joanne/ASIB damage control and restoring her imagine

Keshas rainbow was pretty similar to Joanne's situation too

Cheek to Cheek + Joanne + A Star is Born

Loud tbh. Rude Boy was big but generally her hit making star was fading.

The bright boho chic aesthetic was fully intentional

ASIB was a movie role and C2C was planned long in advance. Joanne fits though.

Kylie's Light Years is exactly that

Gaga spent 2014-2018 spent restoring image. From C2C, tribute performances, Joanne. She worked hard and it paid off

Circus was made to restore Britney's image after Blackout and 2007. It's a much more light record and all the promo pictures are very bright.

Definitely One in a Million by Aaliyah. Her image started to become infamous after everything she went through with R. Kelly and she had to look for brand new collaborators to create a clean slate for herself. She was incredibly successful against all odds tbh.

P!nk releasing I'm Not Dead with less obscure songs, a controversial lead single, her first contact with Max Martin, and the label shoving Dr. L*ke into the project. All in order for her music to gain attention again and it worked

Lover is the most obvious example

Joanne is an extreme example of Gaga or whoever behind her trying to market her on a total opposite way than the one she was marketed during the atrocious artpop

Sadly Joanne was atrocious too imo.

It was ASIB what really changed everything / archieved what Joanne was supposed to archieve.

I feel like crazy Gaga vanished a Lot from the collective memory after the movie.

I don't follow as much the other girls but I perceive Red and Folklore as two very well thought switches on taylor's career/sound/image, as they both came just in time when her old sound was starting to feel tiring.

Not properly two eras conceived to clean taylor's image -what an abstract concept anyway- but to re-market her, re-brand her.

Just my opinion.

What happened to Gaga's imagine after Joanne and asib should be studied. The rebranding took years but the result is impressive

Cheek to Cheek and Joanne and they obviously worked since after these 2 albums she went on her 2nd repeak and imperial phase

I definetely get what you're saying and completely agree. While she never stopped being popular, 'Folklore' represented excitement and opened doors for Swift to expand her audience.
