I mean he's young

hot

im assuming there's still some talent and charisma left

being on top again is more than possible.

I like his honesty.

I do wish him luck!

The second he starts taking himself more seriously instead of trying to cling to beaten to death controversies he'll soar.

Old town road was a smash and organic asf, J Christ was a tired regurgitation that showed no growth or artistic development.

Everyone here seems to not like him, but I do want him to succeed

The way it totally feels like a parody rather than some serious video :dies:

Damn! The way his career collapsed after only 5 years... That's sad because he is very talented.

Hopefully his team explained to him that he should concentrate on the music not the shock/controversy to promote it. Old Town Road didn't need any of it and it worked. He overused the controversies too much and it pushed people away.

I hope he does

He really needs to quit the controversial thing, it worked the first time but now it's just redundant

He worths more than that, he has everything to succeed

I'm rooting for him, but he fumbled his career just as bad as Katy Perry. I really don't think anyone is going to be looking for him again for a very long time... his team really f*cked him over by either forcing him to stick to the camp aesthetic or not being honest with him and telling him to try something else.

He went from unexpected queer rap/country crossover artist to Gay Sisqo in under a couple years.

The thing about Lil Nas X is that he has always been a meme artist. He started his Twitter "career" trolling, his music before coming out was largely meme-driven for straight boys, and after coming out, even though he made some attempt at sincerity, he still leaned on gimmicks and controversy. I don't really feel sad that his momentum has slowed, because he was never a particularly serious artist. If he were a more serious artist, I might feel more sympathy for him. Still, I am glad he had such a huge moment. Regardless of his music, talent, or artistry, a Black gay man topping the Billboard charts is something our community should be proud of. It shows that there is space for us - especially us black men.

Everything he does comes off as trolling/a parody, which has largely been his 'schtick' the first 5 years of his career up to this point, honestly. It worked really well through Montero but I don't think it's an image he can rely on forever. Whether or not this is actually real or not, my default with him is to assume it's all trolling now. The meme/images at the bottom of his video kind of take away from if this was a 'serious' video.

I think the first step to him having a comeback is to stop the trolling. Montero was actually a very well received album in 2021-2022, which it seems like a lot of people are forgetting, but it got to the point the antics kind of distracted from that and tbh it doesn't seem like Montero made a long-term dent on pop culture just 3 years later.

His recurrent streams are kinda rough: https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7jVv8c5Fj3E9VhNjxT4snq_songs.html

J Christ was such a stupid idea

miss nas maraj of all people should've known that shock value doesn't last and hurts an artist's career in the long run if they don't pivot. everyone that uses controversy as their brand has to course correct at some point. after montero he should've had a damage control era purely dedicated to showing his talent to help his career's longevity, doubling down on it with the whole j christ thing definitely hurt his career

I don't really see Sisqo, but Lil Nas should have given us his Nellyville (but make it cvnty and gay) for his follow-up to Montero.

I want to stan, but so much of his music is mediocre filler :rip: He should take some time away, learn some instruments and music theory, and come back inspired.
