Pop girls underperformed this year hits-wise. What went wrong?

Too Sweet & Stick Season and Espresso will push Greedy and Cruel Summer out of the top 10 leaving Espresso as the only female song in the top 10 if you don't count Kacey's feature in I Remember Everything :rip:

At the start of the year atrl was swearing up and down that this year was gonna be the return of many of major pop girlies hyping up many of these releases.

Yet the girls failed to produce hits that stick like grits :bam:  and were easily overshadowed by the men (bar Sabrina).

Why did the pop girls disappoint this year?

The charts are no longer a reflection of what is actually culturally relevant. Seriously, these charts get clogged af with the same songs for months on end, and most of them are generic radio fodder.

Many of pop girls had moments this year, maybe they didn't get high chart positions but that no longer matters. Spotify is a better reflection of what people are listening to. That and monthly listeners.

Surprised to see flop single Fortnight ahead of so-called "smashes" :clack:

I was thinking the same, because doesn't everyone flaunt Texas Hold Em and We Can't Be Friends as huge hits just to downplay fortnight? :dies:

Doesn't tracking start in October or something? That explains some of these ancient hits still lingering around

The way Fortnight is above WCBF & Texas Hold Em yet arianators & the hive say the latter ones are smash hits while the former is a flop (Fortnight was released later by the way)… So what's the truth? :khalyan:

Fortnight is easily bigger than THM. THM came and went quickly.

Probably because H100 tracking period started last Nov 2023 so that list didnt reflect the real hits of 2024

The billboard is so tragic this year with those boring hip hop and country songs :giraffe:
i checked the list with my brother and is filled with them. I was so bored with the top 50.

Glad there's still some amazing pop girls to bring some fun to the charts :gaycat2:

Why on earth would you think this? :rip:

All those songs went crazy outside.

Check airplay numbers and you'll see the top radio songs are also the top songs. The only few songs close to those in airplay are songs that already had a decent run before 2024 calendar

if thats not passive listening to you then idk what to tell you

You realize if this was streams and sales only the list wouldn't look that much different...right?

This is luminate's (which powers billboard) mid-year report (they stopped tracking sometime in late June.
