Have the Gen-Z pop girls made their mark on pop culture?

How do you think future generations will look back on the early 2020s, when artists like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter each dominated in their own way?

Let's say we reflect on this era in pop music years from now, would you say these women shaped the soundtrack of their generation, leaving a mark that will resonate just as Lana Del Rey, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift did for the early 2010s?

These are all talented ladies in their own way. I think they are doing a good job at representing Gen Z. :clap3:

I feel like all four of the artists you mentioned are too new and have too little material to really make a statement on.

I know Sabrina is six albums deep but this is the first time she's ever been in any kind of spotlight and it's impossible to know if it'll last. Her and Chappell have only been famous for like a few months. Olivia and Billie have been around longer but still not that long.

Why is Dua excluded from the OP? She debuted around the same time as Billie.

She was born in 95, all of the other artists are 98 and after

Dua is born in 1995 which makes her a millenial

You're so annoying. You deliberately left out Gaga for the 2010s girl when she washes Lana and Katy away in terms of cultural impact and fame.

OT: Billie's acclaim and original sound and Sabrina's humor and personality incorporated into her music is surely something fresh and could be looked back upon as defining for the 2020s. We're potentially slowly moving away from the singer-songwriter diaristic music that Olivia is known for towards a mix of fun-pop with big vocals and diaristic approach which is a combo of everything the 2010s pop girls stood for all rolled into one.

If we were talking MPGs of the 2020s then Dua deserves to be listed just like Jennifer Lopez was listed for the 2000s despite her being the same age as Mariah. I think that's what that user meant.

Girl relax I genuinely forgot to put her name. I edited it already.

I understand but I think some people might specifically like/relate to the others because of their proximity in age.

Seems like they also left out Ariana who is arguably the biggest break out star of the 2010's, so what now? :celestial5:

Olivia and Billie yes, for the rest and Gen-Z in general, our influence and presence is still building and while stronger than ever now, it will probably peak during the middle and late 20's. Millenials dominated the 00's and 10's, so I think Gen-Z is only getting started…

Also Dua, Doja and SZA are more much impactful and relevant for the early 20's than anyone on the list but Billie and Olivia.

yes, aren't most gen alpha still minors??

while its true that billie had her breakout at 16 i don't think there will be any big gen alpha artists in 2025, maybe in 2027-2030

Billie yes. Her impact is felt and her style has been mimicked to death at this point (both musically and clothing wise). I think it's too early to tell with the others.
