SlimyGhoul
No. The disgusting racist things she did were absolutely deplorable. Also, she's really cringe. not that she's really relevant enough to drag…💀

LustSpell
Beating a dead horse. She's so irrelevant to the culture and music as a whole that it's pointless wasting time on her. She's still a racist, though.

YourFavoriteWeapon
I agree, she doesn't really do anything to anybody and is a nice girl. We should focus our efforts on pro-rape artists like Katy Perry.
Poptart89
4 hours ago, ChooseyLover said: Agreed. I'd rather shed light to Sabrina's unashamedly cringy as hell behavior and lyrics. C, XOXO was a cute album actually. I'm sorry but we're saying this like, "does he get this wet for you baby" is not cringy? I liked C, XOXO, but this is such a weird comparison and feels like an unrelated drag rooted in bitterness. Anyways, Sabrina has many cringe/corny lyrics, but her delivery makes all the difference. It's a part of her brand and is a big part of the praise she's been receiving. OT, I agree. It's beating a dead horse at this point. I hope Godspeed sees more success than C, XOXO now she's got more eyes on her because while that album lacked sonic cohesiveness it had a few great gems. She's overhyped rn cause everyone is suddenly stanning her because she's commercially successful while her musical outcome is pretty mediocre and reductive, reminiscent of bigger pop stars than her, her MVs rely heavily on guest appearances, she's messy as hell venting about her high profile relationships for clout, she can't keep gayness out of her straight mouth a la Ur So Gay and now she endorsed Nicki Minaj online to get some extra sales. She's vocally talented but her album doesn't show that and she's not a impressive performer. I actually loved Espresso but everything else that came after that has been a letdown. Most of this reads like criticism of all the current pop girls, including Camila, as opposed to being valid criticism of Sabrina specifically and the rest is super subjective. Obviously you don't like her and that's fine but most of this doesn't feel any worse than Camilas own faults as an artist & messy history (which like I said I she's paid for ten times over). "She's overhyped rn cause everyone is suddenly stanning her because she's commercially successful" - This happens with every pop girl who blows up and is not exclusive to Sabrina. "while her musical outcome is pretty mediocre" - Subjective, so agree to disagree. "and reductive" - I'm actually very curious about this take. Would love to know more about why you think this . "reminiscent of bigger pop stars than her" - Again this is true of every new pop girl with maybe the exception of Billie. Even Chappell is pulling from the likes of Cyndi Lauper and other 80s pop sounds. Olivia channels Avril at her best. Etc. "Her MVs rely heavily on guest appearances" - Because her videos have been references to films. That's intentional and she's acknowledged that. Also better relying on guest appearances from acclaimed actors in your MV than relying on collabs. "she's messy as hell venting about her high profile relationships for clout" - Olivia, Camila, Taylor etc all also do this, so again, not a criticism of Sabrina specifically. "she can't keep gayness out of her straight mouth a la Ur So Gay" - Valid "and now she endorsed Nicki Minaj online" - This was a joke in response to the meme. Not an actual endorsement of Nicki but agree to disagree. "She's vocally talented but her album doesn't show that" - Valid "She's not an impressive performer" - Her and Camila are on the same level. You're right and my criticism towards her applies to most of the current wave of mainstream artists, and I don't think highly of most of them. But that doesn't mean I hate them. I just point out what I don't like about them. And I won't shut up just because everyone (suddenly) loves her Also, yes, every artist is inspired by the ones that came before them. It's only natural. But some of them do a better job at it, they are able to have their own musical identity with the foundation of those influences. Sabrina and Olivia are the clear examples of zero musical identity for me. I'll keep saying it: Please Please Please sounds like a Taylor Swift song and working with Jack Antonoff right now is only a good idea from a commercial standpoint. What Nicki meme are you talking about? Maybe endorsement isn't the most accurate word but she clearly likes her and wanted her fanbase to buy her album. I find that very lame, sorry. And I do think Camila is a way better performer than her based on the clips I've seen, even though Sabrina has a way prettier/pleasing tone. All of this is subjective as you would say but I think it's pretty obvious. Thanks for your response to my comment, I actually like discussing this way instead of just downvoting each other. Valid about personal identity, particularly in contrast to an artist like Billie for instance who feels very wholly realized independent of direct pop girl influence from others. I think Sabrina's humor is what helps ber stand out from more recent pop girls but even that could be seen in Katy Perry back in her day so it's not a completely novel approach. re: Nicki memes people were taking Nicki's twitter rant when Travis blocked her and inserting Sabrina's user in. It basically turned into a meme. I read it as her just responding in kind to the conversation that was already happening as opposed to direct intentional pandering or endorsement. And agreed! I enjoy the discussion even if there's disagreement. Genuinely like to understand alternative opinions! Appreciate your response.
