YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Despite Miley being one of my faves and MC&HDP being one of my favorite albums of all-time, I honestly haven't listened to it in a little bit given that I associate it with a really dark and scary time of my life and find it a bit triggering. Regardless, I put Miley's music on shuffle a few minutes ago and this was the second song that came on after East Northumberland SMASH and my goodness, I forgot how beautiful and otherworldly this song is. The fact that she probably thought she was just making a Simple Song.mp3 with this but instead she truly created a work of art that brilliantly showcases how us humans question the meaning of life, the possibility of a higher power, and how things such as death, birth, truth, lies, happiness, and anger ultimately shape our perspectives on life and the world itself. The vocals are on POINT and the production is so haunting and eerie, especially at 3:18 when it ramps up and intensifies as she howls "I'VE HEARD VOICESSSSSSSSSSS." I also always felt like this song would'vd made a really good modern Bond theme too given that it kinda sounds like one. Yeah, I've been alive, but I've been a liar Yeah, I've been alive, but I've been a liar There's some kind of love that's so much higher Yeah, I've been alive, but I've been a liar 4 3
J0hn Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Love this song dead petz is her best album imo and im not ashamed to admit it 4
wish Posted August 30 Posted August 30 YES! The most underrated song in her discography Simply stunning and full of unbridled emotion. Her low vocals are insane, and the way her voice rises in intensity and passion as the production swells. 4
Heldenzeit Posted August 30 Posted August 30 (edited) Her best album unironically! Edited August 30 by Heldenzeit 4

Where are you now? Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I was obsessed with this album upon release. I used to imagine each song being it's own unique video game, like Tangerine was Miley in the ocean underwater fighting tangerine shaped creatures. Milky Milk didn't age as well to my ears, but everything else on the album holds up. I just wish she would officially release this to CD and Vinyl! 3

Honestly at first listen I wasn't convinced and thought it was a bit of a forced edgy psychedelic attempt and I used to quote BB talk with my friend and at some point my love for it stopped being ironic I loved Lighter, Fweaky, and I Get So Scared only at first but the way all the songs grew into something so magic for me ugh 1

SpaceOddity Posted August 30 Posted August 30 This was in no way a perfect album. In fact, I think all her albums have too much filler and she's never had her magnum opus and probably never will which is a shame cause she's great. All that said, Dead Petz remains her most ambitious step and there's so much charm in it's messiness. Whether she genuinely thought this would be applauded as some big statement of her taking a hard turn away from the Bangerz sound or she genuinely didn't care, this was a moment for her. She needs to make an album with this kind of mindset and ethos again. 1
