Strawberry Bubble Posted August 30 Posted August 30 A lot of music fans argue that Taylor Swift's impressive numbers might be more about the fervent support from her fanbase than her mainstream appeal. Some suggest that while Swift's achievements are extraordinary, they stem largely from her dedicated Swifties and the marketing strategies she employs. The question is: can a fanbase like the Swifties be more impactful than the General Public? As someone from Latin America, where Taylor isn't as dominant as in the US, Europe, or Asia, I get where these comments are coming from. However, back during the Lover and Reputation eras, Taylor was successful and her fans were incredibly dedicated, especially after the Scooter Braun incident. However, her current level of success, from 2022 to 2024, seems to be on a different scale. Is this massive peak really due to an overly enthusiastic fanbase, or is the general public also significantly involved? Nevertheless, Taylor is generating more revenue than anyone else in the industry right now. Is Taylor Swift's success a product of a fan-driven bubble, or is she resonating on a broader scale? Why is she achieving such enormous numbers compared to the "real" general public darlings?
Teen Spirit Posted August 30 Posted August 30 We're definitely celebrities on our own and we stay rent free in a lot of peoples minds. 1
Popboi. Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Not really, her current success is an amalgamation of impecable image to the GP (stan Twitter is NOT reality, as much as some want it to be) and her fanbase expanding exponentially. If the GP isn't on board, not even Taylor is safe of an underperformance. 2
By the Water Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Of course. A flop for Taylor is a hit for lower tier girls like Beyoncé, Billie, Ariana or Gaga
UnusualBoy Posted August 30 Posted August 30 No, the fans can secure big first week but the longevity is warranted by the gp mostly and she has both. 2
Rihinvention Posted August 30 Posted August 30 What do you mean by impact? Getting an album to #1 on the Billboard 200 or ensuring that society doesn't collapse and we don't die? I don't understand this thread. 2

On a pop music forum, we're discussing popularity, sales, and success—essentially, the impact on public consciousness. We're not debating issues like those handled by the United Nations or any organization focused on global stability. The purpose of a pop music thread is not to prevent society from collapsing. 1

It was a joke about how you're comparing one artist's fans to everyone alive. 1
byzantium Posted August 30 Posted August 30 How else do you explain Taylor having more monthly listeners than other pop girls?
