YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) It goes without saying that Katy is currently in the worst stage of her career. PANNED lead single with an even more PANNED music video, the first 143 chart entry serving #63-OUT and the second single serving #OUT-OUT, INVESTIGATED for causing ENVIRONMENTAL DESTRUCTION, VIRAL tweets where people are LAUGHING at her DOWNFALL, and worst of all: a DESTROYED reputation.mp3 after she showcased that she does not deem RAPE and ABUSE as a matter that should be taken seriously given that she's working with a man who RAPED and PHYSICALLY/MENTALLYVERBALLY/FINANCIALLY ABUSED her former friend, as well as other women. That being said, I've seen many people speculate that the upcoming 143 tour could serve as this era's only saving grace. My question is…how can she possibly tour? If she struggled to sell out arenas during the Witness era despite having a moderately successful lead single, how can she bounce back and regain her touring power? While it is objective that the post-COVID touring business has massively blown up due to the pandemic making people miss the feeling of concerts, which in turn helped artists that used to struggle to sell out shows finally be able to sell them out (ex: both Paramore and Avril struggled to sell out shows during their pre-COVID eras and now they're selling out arenas with ease), I don't think Katy will be granted that same kind of luck. No matter how many Gen-Z'ers or Millenials see some ad showing that Katy's tour tickets are selling less than a box of tampons and go "I would love to get drunk in the nosebleeds to Last Friday Night with my girlfriends!", I'm positive that it won't be enough to help sell out an arena tour. Now, you can easily say "What if she does a theatre tour instead of arenas? She can easily sell that out." True! I have No Doubt.mp3 that Mrs. Hudson would be able to sell out 2-3k capacity venues with ease, she'd probably sell them out in a minute tbh. But the thing is…would a Katy Perry theatre tour even work? It's objective that no one goes for a Katy show for vocals or choreo but instead for the big spectacle she puts on with grade-A props and production value, but it's hard to bring mechanical horses and fireworks onto a small theatre stage. She's different from other "icons" like Mariah and Xtina who were able to make theatre tours work despite them doing arenas at their peak given that no one really sees either of them for some big grand expensive show, but that's the only thing people really see Katy for. She's basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. If she tours, she can't do arenas outside of major cities like LA/NYC/Toronto and nations like Brazil because she most likely will serve "This Is Me… Now: The Tour" or "Feed The Beast Tour" box scores teas, but she most likely wouldn't want to do theatres either bc it would not only serve FAD behavior but she also wouldn't want to disappoint her fans by putting on a more stripped down lowkey show instead of the expensive prop filled shows she's known for. What do YOU think Katy should do about the 143 tour? Edited August 29 by YourFavoriteWeapon 9 2 6
Devin Posted August 29 Posted August 29 if she tours this album, she would have to do an Eras type tour being mostly hits and sprinkle of 143 in the setlist. 5 1
PoisonedIvy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 She should have Orlando strip naked every night. Give him his own Magic Mike segment. 3 9
Mitchell Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Isnt she touring WeHo nightclubs for like $20 nowadays? She can probably sell out a few more 4

I'm not sure if that would make a huge difference versus her touring the album as "The 143 Tour". The GP casuals who would possibly buy a ticket to see Katy live wouldn't feel more enticed to go to the tour if it was named "Katy Perry: LIVE!" or something versus "The 143 Tour" given that at the end of the day, they'd want to see her anyways. Normie locals aren't even aware of set lists like that, the same way that normie locals who love Radiohead had no idea they omitted Creep from their setlist and were fuming about it. 1

I know that the word "tour" must be a trigger for you given that it's a reminder that the RAPE SUPPORTER in your avatar couldn't sell out her high school auditorium tour even after coming off a Grammy winning #1 single and doing 3 for 1 deals (as well as a partnership with a pizza delivery service), but you don't need to be so rude girl 4 7
Spicy Pisces Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) Realistically I see her resorting to the gay community by having a segment that copies what Beyoncé and Madonna did at their recent tours. But hers will be so- Edited August 29 by Spicy Pisces 1 3

Femininomenon Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Imagine having the time to write 534 words 3,014 characters about Katy Perry lol Her tour will probably do fine specially outside the US (if she promotes it as a GH tour and goes on sale after her VMA performance) 3 1

TheCheshireCat Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Eh tbh it might do alright overseas especially if she can snatch up a decent opening act. While online stans (like yourself) are clearly revelling in how badly this era is going, the average millennial or gen X mom is probably still unaware of any of this drama, they probably don't even know she has new music, mine certainly didn't, so name recognition alone might draw a crowd. Like, she was also disliked during the Witness tour and it still made money so who knows.
UnusualBoy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) They just need to pick the venues carefully and it should be fine and also the setlist needs to be mostly from her first 3-4 albums, add HIH, NRO & Lifetimes and maybe another song from 143 but they better not called 143 Tour, that's a death sentency. The tour can be a sucess but they need to be cautious with it (Although these are the same idiots who planned this era so maybe I'm asking for too much) Edited August 29 by UnusualBoy

aly Posted August 29 Posted August 29 She'll be lucky to sell out theatres… Don't know why everyone is coming for OP when they're spot on about Katy's abhorrent behavior and flopping this era. 1

I'm unsure why people are coming for me for writing "essays" dragging someone who is okay with RAPE. You'd think I was dragging a morally sound sweet person like Kesha Sebert 3
BornUnbroken Posted August 29 Posted August 29 She can just do arenas in major cities/internationally and stick to 4-8k amphitheaters in areas that wouldn't be a given success. More artists need to do this again, I know it's a pain because it's difficult for big productions to modify from arenas to amphitheaters, but plenty of artists used to do it. And when her LA shows drop tickets to $20 I'll go 1
