MerveAksak Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I'm a Lorde fan and this is just a stupid take. She's an alt-pop artist, there was never a huge hype. People love her for her art and lyrics. Her fans still look forward to her releases even though it takes ages to arrive but it's worth to listen and that's what matters in the end. 1 3

KatyPrismSpirit Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Only if she ditches Jack Antonoff and makes an album in the same vein as Brat. I mean if Charli xcx of all people was able to achieve huge mainstream success after basically a decade of tanking and not being taken seriously - i don't see why Lorde can't do the same. Especially since she doesn't come from the same lows as Charli did prior to Brat. 1
Gelato Posted August 29 Posted August 29 yes, pure heroine and melodrama are classics. one album that didn't get as positive a reception doesn't mean she's over 6
Lasso Posted August 29 Posted August 29 i thought solar power had killed all her hype, but people seemed to love her verse in the charli remix, so i guess the public is still here for her if she manages to release a good record.

Bussea Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) I think there's a little hype with the REMIX being so acclaimed but unless she comes up with something (quick) that SLAPS like Melodrama it's curtains for the biting down songstress Edited August 29 by Bussea 1
wish Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Hmm I'm gonna say no. The Girl So Confusing remix was definitely her last hurrah. 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Lorde was never a main pop girl, she just makes better music than the mainstream and got locked into it with royals ironically. So I don't think she really needs hype, people will just flock to it if the music is good. 1
sunbathinganimal Posted August 29 Posted August 29 why are some of yall so bothered about Lorde of all people 3 4
Draper. Posted August 29 Posted August 29 There's no hype but it's for the best. People put this crazy expectations on artists and then hate on them when they don't meet them. She's free to release sh*t now because she got rid of the people that were just there for the hype. Just look at Rihanna, nobody wants that. 2

"Her not being able to sustain success" is a false statement when she wasn't even trying to sustain it in the first place. I don't care what fans say. I care what the artist says. They don't speak through her. She was never a commercial pop artist. Even from her debut, her sound was always left-of-centre. She exhibits the qualities of an alt-pop artist: she doesn't start the pop machine cycle every 18 months, she doesn't drop multiple songs and features in between releases, and her sound is definitely unconventional for radio. A song like "Solar Power" was never going to be a huge pop hit. Let's be real. This idea that ATRL users have with expecting something that Lorde herself said she will never reach is so foolish. These threads are getting stale at this point. 2 2
Bussea Posted August 29 Posted August 29 screaming at the camping out to react every time someone comments
Chainsmoker Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I didn't realize Lorde has haters. OT-Maybe. The GSC remix was a bit of a moment.
