I think she set the bar too high for herself coming off of two fantastic albums and Solar Power just simply didn't measure up.

not really  but compared to the 2 previous records ppl had high expectations

plus it was a summer album released  near the tail end of it

It’s alright. Her previous album is just such a masterpiece this one ironically just kind of sits in Melodrama’s shadow.

It's the perfect third album for several reasons.

It shows perfect musical growth and maturity at an early age like 25. Not a Pure Heroine 2 or not a Melodrama 2.

Focusing not just on the positive & bright sides of summertime, it also has unique themes such as escapism, alone time, existentialism, self-discovery, nature, personal growth, questioning your future, the passing of time and more. Even though some people criticized it for Jack Antonoff's tired sound, it still had one of the most unique Jack productions since 2021 imo, with psychedelic folk like Axe, Oceanic Feeling California etc., and even some 2000s glittery soft pop like Mood Ring and more.

Her lyricism and writing is 10/10 as always. The visuals are perfect, the stunning cover art matches the music like her previous albums, and several music videos support it.

After Melodrama an album like this was of course divisive. The most people who *absolutely hated it* were Melodrama stans and not Lorde stans imo, because it's actually definitely NOT a hated album at all within the fanbase.

I love that she always takes risks in her career, focuses on her musical growth & do whatever she wants every 4 years. Can't wait for her fourth masterpiece this/next year.

No. It's one of the best albums of 2021 and I will stand by that. :coffee2:

Yes there are a few duds but those are massively overstated. Every album in existence has duds.

But when you have an ensemble of tunes like Mood Ring, California, Fallen Fruit, Secrets of a Girl, The Path, Stoned at the Nail Salon... there's not much more to say.

She really hit the mark and vastly exceeded it :celestial: It will stand the test of time and the light will be seen.

it's not that bad but it's honestly…not the best either. i feel like people did a little too much but it's still her worst album and didn't really add much to her discography:michael:

Yes, no matter how hard her 3 stans on atrl will try to convince us otherwise

Ah the monthly post about Solar Power maybe not being as bad as everyone thought.

Yes, it's really that bad.  Looking forward to repeating myself in September!

I actually think it adds a lot because she changed the mood and her sound while still keeping it Lorde. Suddenly a Lorde song can be something light and breezy, reflective or contemplative without being dark or too emotional.

I did like a few songs but it's just not something I really go back to :michael: I do love a switch up though!

It's not bad by any means. I find the hate for it to be vastly overstated :michael:
