Both are awful and one of the weakest songs on their respective albums.

 

But I'll give the edge to BMS as it sounds better in the context of the album (if you're listening from start to end) while SL does not sound good in any context.

Stupid Love is a dance record with no soul. Literally, who would say 'I want your stupid love' to anyone in real life? The song is the pits all around.

 

'BREAK MY SOUL' samples one of the greatest dance songs of all time and the lyrics actually speak to what a lot of the GP goes through, especially Gen Z who I respect so much because they prioritize their well being before a 9-5. Beyoncé is actually singing well and the choir speaks to the sample 'Show Me Love' by Robin S.

I think Stupid Love was a better single choice (I don't like the song) while Break My Soul is a better song overall (I like the song), if that makes sense.

Stupid love gets way too much hate but sounds so euphoric live and also inspired certain shaky artist her lead single 4 years after, so we can say it influenced something at least

BMS sounds like something someone made to show ppl wanting to make House music and used and came up with to use as a basic tutorial except someone ended up in here hands and actually made into a song. SL at least has some thought out production especially those synths and has an actual melody.
