Typically, but she's an artist who is quickly blowing up so this is all a moving target. She can set the dates but if a huge career opportunity pops up, they have to decide which one is more advantageous for her career. I think there's an argument both sides: perform for fans to lock down a fanbase vs. doing an awards show for the masses.

Where is that narrative coming from that the cancellation is because of the VMA when there's a week between the dates and the show? She never said that it's because of the VMA and we simply don't know if it's the rehearsals or whatever. People are hurt for not being able to go and I do understand that, especially if they lost money. However, some people just like to tear successful stars down. She'll be more than fine as her growth is just starting. She'll be huge.

I mean she chose to schedule something else that took priority over the shows she scheduled half a year ago either way, whether it's vmas or going on a date or whatever

Does she have control in cancelling shows? Would her team be the one in control of her schedule and keeping track of it? Just curious, but she needs a better team because this does not look good at all. Not excusing it, but wonder if this was decided by the label?

Okay, this move actually isn't a good look, especially since it's likely for rehearsals for the VMAs. 
 

The VMAs aren't as relevant as a whole anymore, she could've easily prerecorded her performance. It's 2024—the performance will be online immediately after it airs anyway, and if it's indeed her "I have arrived" or "star making moment", it will go viral. 
 

I don't see any point in being so dramatic as to say this will derail her career, but this definitely will leave a bad taste in some fans' mouths, which is what you don't want to do.

I don't get any of this by this point. The rants she released made me think she would rather keep it small, just focusing on the concerts, making music and that's it, which is reasonable. But seems like she doesn't even like doing concerts and keeping it small ??
