She should've cancelled the day she got the VMAs offer if this was the case, not wait till the very last second when they've known for several weeks the shows were not happening

People are now not allowed to do what they want? Maybe you should get a grip before jumping on someone's pockets.

Obnoxious and pointless comment. Vast majority of her fans are not wealthy and made financial sacrifices to see her on tour because they're passionate about her.

Imagine cancelling entire tour dates just to attend the VMAs in 2024. :toofunny2: She'd be so much better off just performing on tour. :celestial5:

No. Not going to validate and excuse this.

Yes, there are very valid reasons to cancel (illness, world issues, terrorist threats, et al) last minute, but fans should not feel like they can only go to shows in their own cities. That's not right, especially when artists book so few shows in well-populated areas where crossing country lines (ie, Europe) is the norm.

I'm not excusing this at all though.  I do think it's horrible for fans and such, which is why I'm saying ya'll should also plan to actually spend time enjoying the city and making it a mini-trip in itself instead of "just going to a concert".  Drag artists all you want, just know this *is* becoming very common for artists, especially newer or younger ones.

Their tix will get refunded. Going to these events and especially traveling for them is a luxury. Them making financial sacrifices is on them.

also It's really not that big a deal. She'll reschedule the dates and have more appropriately large enough venues and perhaps even extra dates.
The outsized reaction and outrage in this thread is really bizarre.

They can do whatever they want, she can do whatever she wants. Funny how that works.

And it's also kinda crazy that people felt this rampant urge to travel to another country for someone who just broke through as if this was The Eras Tour or something (these were 1000 people shows). I know it sucks if you actually bought tickets, but she's most likely coming back next year with a proper tour or a festival tour.

Postponing Berlin two days before is unprofessional tho.

A small intimate show for an artist that has massively blown up sounds like a DREAM, and worth a train ride IMO! Especially over trying to fight a festival crowd to get close enough to not have to squint to see her on stage.

I sounds like a dream because it's not realistic. I've lived through a lot of cancellations (in Europe) because the artist has blown up in the US in a specific time after announcing the shows in Europe, happens all the time: Charli in 2014 with Boom Clap/Fancy, Tyler in 2017 with Flower Boy, Azealia in 2012, Cardi…

Oh so when she throws a temper tantrum, her feelings are valid!!! but when fans are genuinely upset and have spent money on travelling/accommodation, they are the problem?

Asking again, is it really because of vmas or is it just speculation rn?

People that wanted to travel and see her made sacrifices, maybe they were saving up for months to pay for hotel and travel expanses etc. Buying a ticket to a concert should be like entering a contract. If the artists cancels because they want to do something else, they should pay some fee. Fans are rightfully angry and disappointed if she cancelled last minute, moved things around etc. It's not fair. Tours are planned in advance, tickets go on sale in advance, and the fans should be take for granted.

Huh? I think she sounded crotchety, annoying, and naive asf when she made those tik toks/posts about fame. So take all that somewhere else….

It really does suck for the fans but ultimately the decision to dump money on traveling for concerts rests on them and they should assume all the risks. They are more within their right to dislike Chappell for this.
And for the record I do think she's incredibly unprofessional for this and it is disrespectful to the fans.

I disagree. Concerts and travel are a luxury. Folks dumping huge amounts of money into this need to be smarter and more realistic about what could happen. And they as consumers can choose to not support her next shows in Europe on the off chance she cancels them again. They can choose to stop being fans and dislike her or whatever going forward. I somehow think all these people are going to queue up on Ticketmaster next summer for her Europe arena tour like nothing ever happened anyway.
