Feanor Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) I guess the lure of walking a red carpet and attending a mass-media event like an awards show was too tempting for Miss "I've pumped the brakes on anything to make make me more known". Edited August 29 by Feanor 3 6
NEUTRON Posted August 29 Posted August 29 She shouldve stuck by the tour because VMA exposure is nothing like it used to be 1 1
TrashMagiq Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Y'all can blabber on but it would be really dumb to pass on big opportunities that will positively impact her career in the long run so she can play 2 scheduled shows. Shows get cancelled all the time, the fans will get over it. 5 1 2 3
Abracadabra Posted August 29 Posted August 29 1 hour ago, Solgayleo said: In her defense, these shows were probably all scheduled before her exponentially fast rise in popularity. Without looking at the specifics closer, I'm just speculating. But if she's literally drawing record setting crowds at festivals, shows that were booked when she had 400x fewer listeners will only slow her career's momentum at this point. I don't think that's the reason, the other venues that haven't been cancelled are similar sizes. Usually when an artist grows in popularity after their tour dates have already been scheduled the venues just get upgraded or the artist just does the show anyway, that's what happened when Gaga really took off during The Fame Ball and was playing venues that were way smaller than she was capable of selling and Billie during WWAFA Tour. It's unusual to cancel tour dates because the artist just got too popular to play them 2 1
Dash_inthedark Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Sh*t happens, but the reason for the cancellation and the timing are atrocious imo. A performance at an Award show is not a valid reason to postpone or cancel shows that were scheduled and sold over six months ago. The VMAs had their date set for ages, and the nominations and performers were announced the beginning of the month. Her performance was confirmed on August 12th online, and it was surely discussed before that. So why did they wait so long to announce this? I'm not saying it's all her fault; her team has been making a lot of mistakes. I think she needs a better team that can plan things properly. 3
My Tears Ricochet Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Cancel tour dates for VMAs and upgrade the shows to bigger venues out of greed? But I thought this ***** hated fame? 6 2

I hate to entertain this further but I would love to clarify that "saying whatever comes to mind" is a very elementary way of trying to say what we are all really doing on here which is, voicing an opinion! Plus you're saying this like that isn't the point of posting on a forum...? Being able to be both nuanced and casual depending on the topic and circumstance, that's duality luv. Sorry to hear you can't relate but I'm afraid I can't help you with this topic any further. Ciao. 1
Triton Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Ehh she's growing so fast there's obviously some bumps along the way and she's still figuring out how to handle her career, schedule and new opportunities. She definitely needs bigger venues now but could have announced the changes it a bit earlier though. 1

Go somewhere if you want to visit the city, and see your fave as a bonus. If they cancel, at least you'll still have a good time. Otherwise it makes zero sense because show cancellations are becoming the norm. It's kinda what I do whenever I travel to see an artist. I live in Berlin and went to Düsseldorf twice, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne for concerts and had a blast in all of them, not only because of the concerts but also because I got to visit marvelous cities. 1 1
The7thStranger Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Yeah... you don't want to be pulling this crap on your first time out the gate. Touring is everything right now, and if you don't maintain a good reputation, you can kiss your security goodbye. 7
BrokenMachine Posted August 29 Posted August 29 If she's having a hard time with fame and tons of weirdos looking at her, booking a televised award performance while canceling intimate dates, and replacing one of those intimate dates for a way bigger venue it's not the way she should be taking 2
Jenni Posted August 29 Posted August 29 She definitely needs a new and better team. I know that her team was not expecting her to blow up so fast in such a short period of time, but they need to start handling her career in a better way. I don't blame her for wanting to perform at the vmas, but the least she could do was cancel those shows as soon as her vma performance was announced, not 2 days before the show. 2
CandleGuy Posted August 29 Posted August 29 It's so refreshing after years of joking about various MPGs hating their fans...we finally have one that really, really does 13
Matchatea Posted August 29 Posted August 29 VMAs were moved to 9/11, so confused how this was scheduled for the VMAs instead?
YellowRibbon Posted August 29 Posted August 29 She's WEIRD and despite the fact that I enjoy most of her songs, her personality throws me off big time 2

Redstreak Posted August 29 Posted August 29 3 hours ago, Velvet Night said: I have to say this is really quite a bad. I will stand corrected if wrong but seemingly she has chosen the VMAs which was booked way after the concerts over her fans. I understand that the VMAs can give her a boost, but there are fans in Europe who have been waiting for her there and just to cancel/reschedule on short notice without giving enough information nor consolation is not a good look. Why would she want a career boost? I thought she wanted to be a stranger to people and live a normal non-celebrity life
Alongoria13 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 VMAs are still relevant for social media moments though is she aiming for those? They can help a lot 1
