Letemtalk Posted August 29 Posted August 29 This happens all the time, especially if you live somewhere like Australia or New Zealand where your show is one of the last stops on the tour. Artists cut the tour short for all sorts of reasons and call it scheduling conflicts. The Grammys are probably the worst show to have booked while the artist is touring, because the Grammys expect everyone to turn up, but they don't tell people which awards are going to be on TV until almost the last minute.
Princess Aurora Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I think her album title is predicting her career trajectory 3
Solgayleo Posted August 29 Posted August 29 In her defense, these shows were probably all scheduled before her exponentially fast rise in popularity. Without looking at the specifics closer, I'm just speculating. But if she's literally drawing record setting crowds at festivals, shows that were booked when she had 400x fewer listeners will only slow her career's momentum at this point. god as soon as a woman finds success, y'all become hungry to tear them down 7 1 5
gab00 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 This is particularly bad when youre a new artist. She truly don't want this reputation -of cancelling shows for no reason- so early on her career 1
zuper Posted August 29 Posted August 29 That's why none of these new „mpg" will ever touch a small piece of the success Taylor or Madonna or Beyoncé have. They don't respect their fans or want to build up a dedicated fanbase. 12

OnikaSlays Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I'm confused. Why is everyone saying it's because she chose the VMAs if that's not until the 11th? 1
State of Grace. Posted August 29 Posted August 29 This is definitely not a cute look. It especially sucks for her OG fans who booked their tickets, hotels, etc months ago "before she got famous" thinking they were gonna see her in intimate setting, and now the Berlin date got upgraded to a +10k venue apparently. Her next tour will be a bloodbath. That said, some of you and especially braindead stan twitter stay doing the absolute most to "cancel" this girl. Weirdos.
ChrispyBelievix Posted August 29 Posted August 29 a win for me as I can now try my luck for those additional tix. Thanks Chappell.

She doesn't seem to like any of this and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. This is so sad to watch. I discovered her via Pink Pony Club back in 2020(??) and remember playing that song with friends and everyone not caring and this summer now she's been the hottest thing with 4 year old songs. And now she's being erratic and just not really fun to follow. It's been weird. I think I may be good on her. 3
Cheers Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I don't like her but the replies in here are a bit overreacting 1 1 2
Archetype Posted August 29 Posted August 29 I hope fans stop flying across the world and booking hotels to see their faves perform. Go somewhere if you want to visit the city, and see your fave as a bonus. If they cancel, at least you'll still have a good time. Otherwise it makes zero sense because show cancellations are becoming the norm. 3 10 1

It says a lot to her credit and artistry that she is struggling, not just another singer who needs to be popular in order to feel validated like so many pop stars. But why would she choose the vmas, a promo opportunity, over her fans on tour if she doesn't want to be more popular? Instead of being there for her fans she is ditching them for THAT show Just a punch in the face for fans. And before someone calls me a hater, I has the same opinion on raye back then. You just can't treat your fans like this. 4 1
kellebrity98 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) 2 hours ago, Alex said: Mess! Not only is this being announced a week before the shows were supposed to be but these dates were originally announced in March which can only lead to speculation that these "scheduling conflicts" are probably new opportunities that were handed to her after these shows were already booked. If you're going to cancel shows to focus on another career performance or whatever it is, at least be transparent and honest with your fans like RAYE was when she decided to cancel her show for a Fallon performance. On top of that, she just cancelled 2 out of the 3 mainland Europe shows, and you just know due to the lack of dates that there were travelling fans who probably had hotels and transportation booked. The ironic thing is I thought she would be announcing venue upgrades, considering there was over 16 thousand people looking for Amsterdam resale tickets for the 1.5k capacity venue she booked, not flat out cancellations. Chappell sis, get it together! i had an airbnb booked for Berlin, i had a two way train ticket booked, also the ticket… so disappointed in her tbh and lying to her fans face is such a disgrace. i'm refunding my ticket since lost money on the airbnb and my ticket. thank you chappell. i had ticket for ts in Vienna but the reason it got cancelled is different so not mad at her, ofc why whould i but chappell is different. imagine being this hypocritical. a week ago she claimed that she don't care about fame only music and touring but here we are she choose to perform at the VMAs…. Yes, there are very valid reasons to cancel (illness, world issues, terrorist threats, et al) last minute, but fans should not feel like they can only go to shows in their own cities. That's not right, especially when artists book so few shows in well-populated areas where crossing country lines (ie, Europe) is the norm. 13 2
Kukai Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Doing this for the VMAs is also silly. Who actually watches these award shows anymore? Maybe she wants a Paparazzi performance moment but we don't live in that era anymore and the VMA no longer holds relevance. If I was a diehard fan and bought these tickets in advance I would be so annoyed. 1 1 1

When you have your feelings you also dont wanna be invalidated 1 6
TOKYO. Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Its the fans problem and risk to buy tickets and cancellations happen. Its just life 2 12
Dula Peep Posted August 29 Posted August 29 The VMAs being more important for once an iconic performance televised >>> a shitty little tour date 3

Misguided Ghost Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) I feel so bad for the fans, especially those travelling. No one is going to refund them hotels and flights. It's really unprofessional, and if it's really for performing at a dying award show then... Edited August 29 by Misguided Ghost
