AlbumOfTheYear Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Success at album #6. I want a cute indie-goes-mainstream moment
ATRL Moderator Juánny Posted August 28 ATRL Moderator Posted August 28 Flop. Then I can go stop working and have a nice retirement. Imagine wanting to flop 5 times which is like 5-10 years of making no money then having to work hard another 5-10 years to make what you could’ve if you were just successful from the start… instead of getting huge success off the bat and then a nice excuse to retire and actually enjoy lmao. The ones saying smash later are basically saying they would defer money and success until they’re older which good for you if you’d like much less money. 1
thatsmydemi Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I'd rather have moderate success for 5 albums than smash on the sixth. Of course, smashing is never bad but you've wasted 5 albums to get there - that's a lot of time. If you are young, it's fine I guess. But I can't imagine how it must feel wasting so many years and music on albums that have gone nowhere if your aim is to make it big in the industry. And please, there's no longevity in smashing wtih your sixth album if the previous albums bombed so hard that people think your sixth album is your debut
