Ray of Light is my fave album from her but it's not her most quintessential album

I can't choose ONE album but the years between 1986 and 1993 (True Blue to Erotica) are very representing of Madonna's career imagery, she always refers somehow to those years

Came here to say "The Immaculate Collection" as it's the one my mama had in her CD collection and I used to listen to it in the car when I was a child. "Like A Prayer" is also her quintessential song.

LAP over ROL and TB? pleaaaase :hoetenks:

True blue, not her best alberm but it has that 80s charm that she is most known for and a good balance between commercial appeal and quality

I want to vote for True Blue or Erotica, but I think a better representation is Ray of Light.

When i think of Madonna i think of COADF because this album was gigantic in my country and it is my first memory of her, so ill vote for that. I also think the lyrics from this album represent her style very well.

However any of those are correct answers as well:

LAV - True Blue LAP - Erotica - ROL - Music

The way she has so many iconic albums that this is a legit debate. But the answer is LAP.

Like a Prayer followed by True Blue. Those are the albums most people would look at and say, "That's Madonna!".

Ray of Light is stunning and iconic, but not at all what anyone would say is quintessential Madonna outside of gays and their hags.

Like A Prayer, no question. It's not even my personal favorite (still top five, though), but it is the most quintessential Madonna album ever.

It's actually LAV when you look at cultural impact + sales + legacy + controversy.

Why not? The alberm is about Madonna reflecting about her own story, it samples old sings, its throback-y vibe feeds this nostalgia and celebrative innuendo... to a lot of long time fans that record felt like the coming of a full circle, even more so after American Life's slump.

True Blue

To me, True Blue is the iconic Madonna album with artist-defining songs like Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, True Blue, etc.

Ray of Light is my favorite Madonna album, but I don't think it's representative of her overall career/style in general the way True Blue is.

I dont even ship the true blue song but it is the quintessential album that defined her artistry.

Madonna was a dance album

Like a v was a teen pop album

True blue showed her range as a controversial risk taking genre bending artist.

She gave the cutesy open your heart and wheres the party but also served live to tell timeless introspection misogyny, political womens rights papa don't preach, and then la Isla bonita is perfection.

She did her big one.

Immaculate Collection but out of this list it's True Blue. It's her biggest album worldwide and represents her moment of total domination and it's her catchiest, most POP album.

Did some of you miss what the question was asking?

Why are people saying Hard Candy or Madame X?

Be serious please.
