stochastic Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) Spotify has released its global songs of summer list and these 5 have made the cut. The songs were hand-picked by Spotify's global editorial team that "represent the various sounds and moments that defined summer 2024 for listeners across the Northern Hemisphere." Which one do you think deserves the definitive title? Edited August 28 by stochastic 1
Theluckyone Posted August 28 Posted August 28 "Good luck babe" should be there instead of HOTTOGO. Out of these, espresso. 9

Erreur2 La Nature Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I've only heard one of these and I'm not joking 1
Aries Groove Posted August 28 Posted August 28 3 of these are very local ESPRESSO takes it easily! it was inescapable... 1
ChooseyLover Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I think it's well known that Espresso eats that category. But my songs have been Nasty, After Hours, Check, JOYRIDE and Don't Let My Boyfriend Get In Your Way. 1
pride4jc1222 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) A Bar Song. Truly the most inescapable song here in the US since Old Town Road, maybe Despacito. It's doing better worldwide than country songs traditionally do. It's about to spend a 14th week at #1 in Canada (and by a wide margin, so this may go on for a while), where it took forever for Last Night to reach #1. Edited August 28 by pride4jc1222 1
DonnaSpring Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Espresso and then a bar song not heard any of the others
Relampago. Posted August 28 Posted August 28 All strong contenders, but I think Not Like Us should take it. Espresso is a massive hit but PPP is pulling from it, so it doesn't feel as universal. Same with HTG! and Good Luck Babe! Birds of a Feather is massive but doesn't feel like a summer song, plus I think we'll see its success carry well into fall and maybe even winter considering it's a love song. I just don't listen to country, I know A Bar Song is huge but I couldn't even tell you what it sounds like. I know it's the most streamed on this list so far, so maybe it is this, but I just… haven't heard it anywhere so I can't vouch for it. Not Like Us is EVERYWHERE and the Drake-Kendrick beef is kind of the biggest thing to happen in pop culture this year. Getting people to sing about your opp being a pedophile and the radio playing it is kind of crazy too. Just feels like it has the most cultural impact and will be remembered for happening in 2024 since that's when the beef happened.
JBJT2786 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Espresso with Not Like Us being a very close second. Both have had crazy staying power for songs that came out in spring. A Bar Song seemed to had peak before mid summer and it seems like radio play is keeping it alive now. Birds didn't really peak til recently while Hot to go feels more US centric.

chaneloberlin Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Obviously that me espresso. A Bar Song is a close second though
kellebrity98 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) thats that me espresso Edited August 28 by kellebrity98
makeawish Posted August 28 Posted August 28 when i saw this headline i predicted four of them before i clicked, obviously flunked on hot to go because wtaf espresso is the one but also, i like all of these, it's been a good summer for the chart
