He has worked with everyone from Whitney Houston, to Britney Spears to Brandy to Destiny's Child. You sound incredibly foolish. 37 minutes ago, BGKC said: I was pushing it by throwing Max under the bus with puke, but I still see two of some of the most iconic female collabs between two decades and genres with Darkchild (Telephone and The Boy Is Mine). So I'm not seeing a lack of versatility/longevity. (And I do think he's better overall) He's obviously a legendary producer. What I was saying is that Max had much more longevity and showcased much more versatility during his career. When you take a look at their discography it's quite obvious there is no competition

toast Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Max > Darkchild > Puke Max over Darkchild bc of longevity, but they're both legends in their own genres. Would love to hear what a collab between them would sound like.

When you take a look at their discography it's quite obvious there is no competition Considering Darkchild specializes in R&B and Max is more pop, which one has more mainstream success in the others category? I'll wait. How many of Max's singles or songs have hit number 1 on the R&B charts? 1
ChrisTheLoner Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Darkchild and Timbaland are the masters of R&B tinged pop while Max Martin is a master at pure pop, both entirely different lanes but both have made some of the biggest and best classiques Dr Puke however yeah he was a fluke and was never gonna last with his dated productions and Katy's latest era is proof of that 1
Nightingale Posted August 27 Posted August 27 He had some bangers but at the end of the day Max and even Puke have lasted decades and produced so many incredible songs
Mtjjproducer Posted August 27 Posted August 27 No darkchild while great his music doesn't age well. if we're talking rnb timbo and the Neptunes (from 2002 on) are better. Darkchild also produced the weakest MJ album (starting at OTW) so that alone knocks him down a bit. max timbo and the Neptunes are the big three in terms of production.
BraveNewSeth Posted August 27 Posted August 27 The OG version of Overprotected produced by Max Martin shits all over the Darkchild remix sts. But overall Darkchild is definitely one of the best pop/R&B producers of all time.
modeblock Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I love Darkchild, but I would not put him above Max. Dr. Puke shouldn't even be in the same conversation when it comes to legendary producers because all his biggest hits had Max on them. Timbaland (as much as I hate him) should replace Lukas in this conversation - his work with Aaliyah and Missy is timeless and legendary whew. 1

True. if I was stranded on an island with nothing but Darkchild and Timbaland produced hits I'd be quite alright and set. Max is obv a top tier producer in pop, but idk how much of the radio fodder half of what he produced I can take by comparison. Edited August 27 by BGKC 2

That's why I don't think it's clear cut that he's number 1 because the artistry was often lacking outside of the biggest hits, so numbers aren't the end all be all for me. 3

The only one worse than him is objectively his own protégé, which says a lot Swedish pop music is objectively the worst flavor of European pop possible and died with ABBA because of how boring and simple those melodies are. Timbaland is objectively one of the best producers no contest, with Darkchild way below him Edited August 27 by Vrx. 1
gettsleazy Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Two monkeys slapping ham cutlets together is better than Dr. Luke's recent output, so yes. 1
slw84 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Why is Max catching a stray? Keep whacking Luke, though. Get em again. Get em for me. Max > Luke Rodney > Timbaland even though his Aaliyah work makes it a close call. Note: I was today year's old when I found out that Full moon (the song) was NOT produced by Darkchild. I'm gobsmacked. For 22 years I've been given Rodney credit for this gamechanging production. I feel helpless Max > Rodney > Timbaland >>>>>>>>Luke
