ReneighIsHere Posted August 26 Posted August 26 (edited) No, that was Planet Her. Edited August 26 by ReneighIsHere 5
Polgg48 Posted August 26 Posted August 26 taste doesnt seem a hit outside of first week nor the rest of album, well she is fine with two smash anyways
byzantium Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I think expecting the album to have 5 number one hits is too much. But it could easily be one of the biggest eras of the decade. 1
STMG23 Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I my dear god, please please please don't let Sabrina C. be the 2030s Katy P.

drivers license Posted August 26 Posted August 26 you guys love acting like she's the second coming and no one was ever as successful as her, and idk if it's to get her dragged or what
Pavement Princess Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Taste + Juno have high hit potential, release a deluxe with final 5th single and maybe!
50thStateofMind Posted August 26 Posted August 26 yup, I think she could have 5 big hits with this album.
Blue Monday Posted August 26 Posted August 26 (edited) 56 minutes ago, KillingYourCareer said: There will never be another Teenage Dream, an album where every single was a mini-era, where the GP was perched and that went on for a year and a half WITHOUT the need for a re-release (two years and a half with the re-release). It's simply impossible in the streaming era. The last Teenage Dream-esque eras were My Everything/1989. The last era that feels on par with these two is (as others have mentioned) Future Nostalgia, which isn't totally wrong but still didn't have as many smashes as TD, ME or 1989 did. OT: No, and that's ok! It doesn't need to be. As big as Espresso and PPP are, they are not even close to being California Gurls or TD level ubiquity/domination. Taste will probably be a cute hit in its own right but isn't looking like a monster smash (at least right now). There are definitely other good single choices on this album tho that will continue to carry it Edited August 26 by Blue Monday

Expresso sounds like a lot of other songs that have been hits this decade and the latest one is just very forgettable. None of the songs can be compared to Teenage Dream, TOTGA or even California Gurls. PPP is the one with the most personality and it might have some staying power though. I don't mean to diminish Katy's legacy or that album but teenage dream is in no way an innovative or unique album.
georgechxng Posted August 26 Posted August 26 ppp was the only song to hit #1 and was only able to hold to the top spot for one week. be serious for once. this era isn't even comparable to thank u next. 1
Twizzy Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I'm afraid this title already unanimously (for the most part) belongs to Future Nostalgia. Hit after hit after hit.. yea they're not all #1s. But in the Tiktok/streaming era, that doesn't really matter when every single was a smash on social media.
Phaunzie Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) Yes, I beweave that Sabrina will have 7#1s off the album, enough to leave FN trembling, broken and bleeding afterwards. Good Graces is just that great. Edited August 27 by Phaunzie
wsurferwayne Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) planet her = a hybrid of teenage dream and pink friday future nostalgia = loose sour = a hybrid of the fame and baby one more time sos = fearless short n sweet = a hybrid of 1989 and the dutchess the rise and fall of a Midwestern princess = hybrid of the fame and born to die Edited August 27 by wsurferwayne 1
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 27 Posted August 27 In terms of sales and impact? No, but it's better than any Katy album that isn't OOTB and showcases more artistry than Katy ever put in her music so it doesn't matter.

MatiRod Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Yes. "Bed Chem", "Good Graces" and "Juno" are hits. The whole album is effortless. It feels iconically American in a way that Teenage Dream also felt. Like, she is the living fantasy of the American girl. For better or worse. That's why she's blown up so much, she's embodying that ideal right now. Sassy, clever, cute, daisy dukes bikinis on top.

Never considered some of them before, and they make complete sense. Particularly "Future Nostalgia" and "Loose", both representing an exciting new direction for the artists, having massive US hits as well as successful songs that resonated more with European audiences, and even having a hit collaboration associated with the era ("Cold Heart" and "Give It To Me"). I'd also add Bruno Mars' 2010 debut "Doo W0ps & Hooligans" as part of "SOUR" 's equivalents, mostly because both albums have pretty well-known tracks that were never pushed as singles ("Count On Me" and "Talking To The Moon" for Bruno, also "Runaway Baby" to a lesser extent; "favorite crime" and "happier" for Olivia, also "brutal" to a lesser extent).
