Anyhow, I'm not going to spend any more time explaining how that performance was very obviously straight up queerbaiting for no reason to people who seem to have made it their life decision to defend her questionable behavior this entire era.

Isn't it kind of good that a straight woman can just scissor on stage at a televised event now? Especially with how casual it was. She didn't frame it like "ooohh look, I'm such a bad girl". It was just cool

Katy generally has a warped, cool-aunt, raised-by-republicans lens so her takes on liberation, feminism, sexuality etc. are usually regressive but this one in particular... isn't bad? I would be quicker to call queerbaiting on someone who actually lies about their orientation to gain cool points and fans but we know Katy's a married hetero and she's just trying to serve gimmicky choreo. It's a little iffy but not sure it's hurting the LGBTQ+ movement at this point.

A. The subtext is all there. B. Still ABOUT A MAN so why was any of that needed? That's what I meant by weird above, especially given Katy's history of using girl on girl action as a quirky shtick. C. Thank god, the lesbians didn't give a ****, as opposed to the performance of an actual lesbian from the same night.

Queerbaiting? Lord above. You would MELT in your drawers if it were two straight men doing it. Sit down.

It's a known straight woman doing It thus delegating woman loving woman queerness  (that she knows nothing of) into this hypersexual im so random!!!!!111 gimmick for controversy and sales. It's not advocating for acceptance or normalizing wlw, it's feeding into the exact narrative that queer women spend their entire lives trying to eradicate, that women only do women for male attention and capitalizing on it when it's not yours to do so in the first place.

do we think this will have spotify support? taking in consideration next week 143 will be released

her team should be smart enough to secure at least one song charting (to increse sea and tea for first week)

Seriously. Now queerbaiting is now a problem? This is literally a woman who almost 20 years ago singed I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT :suburban::suburban::suburban::suburban::suburban:

Babes, that's kind of what you're doing

There's no longer any need from queer women to have a popstar advocating for their acceptance at the VMA's. We are long past that. We can have fun now. The male gaze argument, I don't necessarily get either. She was 110% looking for a reaction from gays and women. Straight men will not jerk off to this. In the age of fluidity and normalizing all sexualities, I don't get how a straight woman doing some very light action with another woman can be seen as harmful or exploitative. I get why someone might think it's boring or cringey but problematic? Idk

Anyway

I have a feeling that 143 will be my favorite Katy album. Lifetimes and I'm He's, His Mine are both excellent pop bops! I don't care if it's generic or other things you are calling it, but these songs are so fun! IHHM is stuck in my mind!

oh here we go. the whole premise of your argument relies on the assumption that neither Doechii nor Katy experience same-sex attraction. you don't know anything about them either. haha Also it was just a dance. So idk why you're intellectualising it.

I like it. Doechii genuinely adds to the song in my opinion. The verses are good. It is sad the chorus is the worst part of the song. It is still a keeper for me though. She is 3/3 for me so far

I think you're taking this way too seriously. It didn't look like she was doing it for controversy at all, so I don't really understand the argument it was a gimmick for sales. I don't think many choreographers are thinking like that anymore. Megan and Cardi scissoring and slapping their vaginas at each other wasn't really controversial for the choreo, but because of the subject matter of the song. Sabrina kissed an alien thats obviously supposed to be female during her performance. The Madonna Britney kiss is celebrated every year and labeled an iconic moment.

I know you aren't explicitly doing this but its kinda reminding me of the theory that a spike in homophobia in youth currently is linked to millennials and early gen z constantly arguing over what is offensive to who. Not everyone can be perfect, and I think its somewhat of a trauma response for a generation but these arguments are obviously not doing anything to advocate for acceptance of queer people as well.

not her team buy the VMAs Vanguard awards but put IHHM #13 on New Music Friday on Aus and NZ:suburban:the budget runs out for the performance I fear

Why does this song exist?

My main issue with everything this era and the fact I can't even get past this song is why did they just slow down a sample, add a generic beat and start talking shite over it? It doesn't add anything to the song or her discography. I know it's just pop but if you're gonna make a song at least make it have a purpose. Horrid

This is great. I love how sultry she made her voice and the production is so fresh. Great track.
