mathekr Posted August 25 Posted August 25 (edited) The lyrics are abhorrent and the production is very uninspired, but it has a great melody and she sounds great. Edited August 25 by mathekr

Tylerbv Posted August 25 Posted August 25 The melody is okay/decent. The lyrics are cringey and basic. Sounds like every similar song from 2012ish, but somehow worse. She hasn't grown at all as a lyricist. 1
xXavril Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Yes, it's that bad. The lyrics are skin deep and bring nothing new to the table. It sounds like she saw the Barbie hype last year and thought that's still where society is. If she wanted to have a seriously good comeback she should have worked with more unknown producers and do something fresh and new. 1
Colmillo Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Terrible lyrics, dated production, ok melody, I have to go with YES 2
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted August 25 ATRL Moderator Posted August 25 The chorus is fine, but the verses are pretty bad. 1
Jacobdaniel Posted August 25 Posted August 25 yes, it's objectively bad. the majority of people probably wouldn't have cared about dr luke's involvement if the music was actually good (see: Doja Cat and Kim Petras, although Kim's music being good is debatable, depending on the song)
Roberto Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Yes, I mean, the music is kinda ok (generic but not harmful) but the rest is just terrible.
Konril Posted August 25 Posted August 25 The way the visuals were eating... and then the snippet of the verse halted everything.
FrederickGa Posted August 25 Posted August 25 YUP I honestly thought that the Dr.Luke issue would've been ignored had they made BOP like what Luke did on Doja etc Woman's World is just embarrassingly BAD
Franz Ferdinand Posted August 25 Posted August 25 The problem with making mindless pop is that if it bombs, it's worse because it was designed to succeed. With WW, of course the lyrics are inane and the composition is entirely basic, but that's plenty of successful pop songs as well, so that's not why it's bad. It's bad because it bombed, nobody wanted to listen to it, thus it failed at its designed purpose.
Body Talk Posted August 25 Posted August 25 The chorus could've been salvaged but the verses are so bad
Neyde Posted August 25 Posted August 25 yeah… lifetimes is a little bit better but still way too generic
jeffersonairplanes19 Posted August 25 Posted August 25 It's sounds like a song from a sitcom that's parodying a popstar. Or like an SNL skit
Big Bad Wolf Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Yes, it's a generic robotic pop song with laughable lyrics and the controversy just taints the song even more. A disaster all around.
Gelato Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Yes. The production is so sparse, almost like it's a demo. It lacks any of the finishing touches that Luke's earlier songs with her have. For the most part the vocal delivery is so flat - on the first listen I was crying out for some melodic or harmonic variation. And the lyrics are just bad.
Khal Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Yes, it's actually awful even if it was produced by Susan B. Anthony. Lifetimes is the song that deserves a thread like this, because there could be something there if the song is tweaked a bit.
Mikeymoonshine Posted August 25 Posted August 25 It's impossible for me to be unbiased as I hate Dr Luke, support Kesha and have never been a KP fan. I do like some of her songs tho including songs Dr Luke worked on. I also like songs by other artists that he worked on like Primadonna and Kiss Me More. This song is not good, the verses are terrible and lifeless, The chorus is a little better but not much, it's not super catchy, the lyrics aren't interesting, the message is all over the place, it's not even the sort of song that gets stuck in your head. I think this why it fails as a pop song. I think Lifetimes could have been good with rewrites and better production. That song's problem is it's just way too repetitive and it's prod isn't interesting enough but at least it has an OK hook. Woman's World has nothing.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted August 25 Posted August 25 The lyrics are comically trite, generic, and say nothing of substance. Considering that the entire point of the song is to make some big social point, it's already a failure on that level. And the melodies aren't bad, but they're similarly whatever and empty. It's the type of pop song that's kinda cute at first but reveals how bad it is with each listen.
