Durov was travelling aboard his private jet, TF1 said on its website, adding he had been targeted by an arrest warrant in France as part of a preliminary police investigation.

TF1 and BFM both said the investigation was focused on a lack of moderators on Telegram, and that police considered that this situation allowed criminal activity to go on undeterred on the messaging app.

This search warrant was valid if, and only if, Pavel Durov was on national territory. "He made a blunder tonight. We don't know why... Was this theft just a stopover? In any case, he's in custody!", a source close to the investigation told TF1-LCI. Since he knew he was persona non grata in France, Pavel Durov had been in the habit of travelling to the Emirates, the countries of the former USSR, South America... He travelled very little in Europe and avoided countries where Telegram is under surveillance.

Yea I don't trust people with telegram groups

The only acceptable reason to have Telegram is if you're buying drugs or using it to share music leaks (which is why I do it). I learned that being added to gay Telegram groups isn't a good idea the hard way because I witnessed so many people talking about wanting CP or bragging about owning it and felt instantly repulsed. The fact that there are no longer even any subreddits dedicated to gay Telegram groups because of the abundance of CP on that app is ******* repulsive. That app is rotten to the core with degeneracy and a safe haven for pedophiles.

The groups where I got actually have strict rules, and all the members are quick to report when a weirdo comes in, but still, it's such an uncomfortable experience that many weirdos like that pop off the whole time

You're lucky then, but granted, most of the groups I joined were kink/fetish oriented ones instead of just regular gay groups. Being in that scene comes with the territory of people masquerading predatory behavior as just a kink/Fetish.mp3.

Telegram is the place to go for anything that is illegal, such as piracy links, cracks, and...what was discussed in the OP

It's not a website but an app and you invite people to your personal circles to engage. It's not an open forum or anything. So people share links of private group chats about illegal drug trade and pedophilia rather than it's out in the open for every telegram user to access

Tbh it's messed up, because as an app itself Telegram is billion times better than WhatsApp, iMessage, Messenger etc. Wish other companies took notes
