tshwark Posted August 24 Posted August 24 No, her last 3 studio albums bombed and Born this way started her downfall, she is clinging to acting as she should, and the soundtrack and side music projects are helping her, but when it comes to her music, there's no rebrand, the GP clearly say no. 1 14
Happylittlepunk Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Gaga is clearly one of the smartest and talented pop girls in the entire industry. The last 10 years Gaga has been focusing on trying prove to herself and the gp that she more than just a crazy outfit wearing pop star who does electro pop. It might take several years to see the fruit of her labor but she has proven it in the long run. You can see it now how much of impact she left in pop culture and now with her current success. 2

None of her last 3 albums ever bombed. 9
glacier76 Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Her imperial phase gave her a large ride and die fanbase who were willing to follow her through her different ventures. Dabbling into country, movies (especially the type that garner Oscar attention), jazz, R&B…she is gonna be confronted with an audience that won't give her the benefit of the doubt. It's her own talent, hard work and respect for the genre that allows her win over these folks. And collaborating with different artists is a testament not only to her own skills but her kindness. I doubt Tony, The Rolling Stones, Ridley Scott, Bradley Cooper et al would work with her if she was a demanding diva. There is a reason whenever Gaga does something outside her original persona there will be people who will go "Wow, I didn't know the meat dress lady can actually sing!!!!". Even with DWAS, there is a good chunk of the Bruno Mars fanbase that has never heard of even Shallow.
Popular Post Infernal Paradise Posted August 24 Popular Post Posted August 24 "At the end of the day, when people think they know what Lady Gaga is, I want to remind them that they don't." This is one of my fave quotes of hers, because it's also very much her artistic philosophy and essence. She had a plan all along and knew when and how to pivot. Billboard even covered this back in 2015 right after the Sound of Music performance. At the time, I didn't understand what this long-term plan would encompass and how long-term she was thinking, but watching everything unfold over the last 10 years made it crystal clear that she knows what she's doing. Today, there's a stunning duality to her career - an extravagant, larger-than-life pop star and an elegant, sophisticated old-school diva, with a throughline of her unique theatrical flair in everything that she does - and she seems to have found just the right balance. And attaining that requires a tremendous amount of nerve, conviction, hard work, and most importantly, talent. She's a master of the art of fame and reinvention. She can have the wildest ups and downs and in-betweens throughout her career, but her star will ALWAYS shine bright. This is the same woman just weeks apart this year. She's here to stay and stick around for a long, LONG time. Not just a legend, but one of the GOATs. 16

I do have gurls like Charli , LISA , Chappell who can give me that missing stamp though. In a nice way I AM getting sick of this white washed country trend so this era doesnt have me yet unless she has a trick up her sleeve. Watch out cause her abracadabra trick is about to **** us good Edited August 24 by Daglazzo 2
Popboi. Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Yes, she proved she's not a one trick pony of controversy over substance. A lot of the multi generational support she's had since 2015 (especially for ASIB) is cause the GP sees her as a huge talent and not as the crazy outfits girl anymore.

This is an overstatement. Underperformed, yes. But Gaga never had a bombed album ala Bionic/Lotus or Witness/Smile/143 - I'm not surprised. Gaga always find new ways to be interesting. That's why I'll forever stan her for that 1
Archetype Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Yes, she was smart to do it and drastically expanded her appeal to beyond her existing fan base. She's all about reinvention and has the talent and charisma to make it work. That being said, it doesn't mean all of her work will resonate with the GP, and that's okay.
ericcartman Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Yes. Without the rebrand, Bradley, Arianna, and Bruno would not want to work with her.
UnRayuki Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Gaga is a pop culture sucker, she reinventing herself embracing numerous clichés/personas during her career was expected, but of course going from the infamous doritos festival to singing in the Oscars a rendition yo The Sound of Music in one year is not something we see everyday.

Oop. This tea. The real test will be when Gaga releases a solo single from LG7. Will it be a hit or will it quickly sizzle away? Stay tuned! 4

Sugar-Rush Posted August 24 Posted August 24 (edited) Reinvention is important for pop stars, yes. Unfortunately some artists can never achieve such a thing in their Lifetimes. Edited August 24 by Sugar-Rush
