Graves Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 RAINBOW, of course, is the song with the most 11's in the rate, so kudos HANABI ~episode II~ holding her silver medal like... 3
Suilen Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Both SURREAL and M are anthems, I don't mind either winning.
Britneyfan09 Posted October 19 Posted October 19 So so glad this made it so high! I think M has this.
Kyle-x Posted October 19 Posted October 19 It's very annoying there are no remixes for RAINBOW. I need like a 10 minute long remix experience for this masterpiece 2
Kyle-x Posted October 19 Posted October 19 She really had her foot on Enya's neck with this ethereal masterpiece 2

Fevesy Posted October 19 Posted October 19 SURREAL is my most played Ayumi song by a lead of 500 plays so we are praying 1
AvadaKedavra Posted October 19 Posted October 19 (edited) The instrumental is so otherworldly. i have to be honest everytime im sad and feel like crying i play this song When there's that sense of being lost in the world and totally lone and in despair The Huh Huh Huh vocals in the front and back add a very chilling tone to this. I want more ethereal albums from the pop girlies. I love how the ending is all about positivity and finding yourself and overcoming your depression I think this song is like an after and before for ayu. This is the final goodbye to her lost self from the past. Welcome to the confident ayu of now At the same time is about embracing the hurt from the past and learning from it and accepting it So yep a rainbow of colors Edited October 19 by AvadaKedavra

Kyle-x Posted October 19 Posted October 19 When M is the only mega-classic that Curaga didn't sabotage sajdlka
Suilen Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Maybe Curagaful results aren't that bad, it's not like CAROLS is going top 10. 1
Graves Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 19th Single Track #11 on I am... 11 x 1: @sanzo HIGH SCORE: 10 x 10 (Suilen, Kyle-x, SA*KURA, Invisibility, UrMom, Maresia, AMIT, Fevesy, AvadaKedavra, confide in me) LOW SCORE: 6.5 x 1 (Curaga) HOST SCORE: 9 M. A lot of people would call this Ayu's signature song, a lot of people would recommend it as a jumping off point for those curious to explore her music, and a whole lot of people love this song. To many people, I am... is the classic Ayumi Hamasaki album and era. There's a lot of reasons for it. The dominance of the singles chart throughout the era, the varied soundscape, the A BEST competition taking place in the middle of the era... but perhaps the most obvious one is M. One of Ayu's greatest singles - one of her greatest songs, greatest videos, and some of her greatest performances... this is a track that has all of them in spades. A pleading cry to the mother of Christianity, M is a uniquely religious concept of an Ayu song. Though she was inspired more by the stories told to her by friends than any religious text, and that makes it more of a personal wish than a devout prayer. I could talk about this track and the sheer dominance it had as a single. Number one, 1.5 million copies sold, #2 on the year-end list... this song has an impressive resume, but that's not the most important thing about it... The song is deeply connected to Ayu as it was the first time she ever wrote music. Though always a keen lyricist, M was the first time that she had actually penned the melodies to her own songs. It's beautiful work, I'm sure you can agree. This track is a marvel, and that she did so much of it herself... My favorite part of M is actually that last chorus, where her voice rises above belting and sounds more like desperate pleading to the mother herself. Stunning. Tracks like this and Endless sorrow make you yearn for the days she was so involved. Other than one track from part two, she never returned to this kind of writing. I think any time an Ayu rate is running, M is going to be the assumed winner. It's just got that all-encompassing aura and reputation. And it very nearly did win again! But I think it is also time we give shine to an equally brilliant track of hers... Suilen: a classic, career highlight etc, but it had its moment during one of my rates where it got an average over 10 and then won the singles rate. Still, I won't be particularly mad if it pulls a TABOO, I suppose. Kyle-x: Oh she's that girl for a reason. Who can resist that chorus?! Her vocal delivery is so urgent you can't help but get swept up in this song. The orchestral version on ayu-mi-x 4 is gorgeous and the "HAL'S Progress" version on A BALLADS is excellent too. The "Above & Beyond remix" is probably in her top 5 remixes of all time but the "RANK-M Mix" and "van Eyden vs. M.o.r.p.h. remix edit" go off too. If you're looking for a weird ***** remix the "nicely nice winter parade remix" is fun. Invisibility: Her tradwife serve. Meloetta Carey: popular opinion but the Above & Beyoncé remix is heavenly. AMIT: this one makes me second guess some of my other 10s because... yeah. 1/16 1
AvadaKedavra Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Im team M cause when jesus say yes nobody can say no

Kyle-x Posted October 19 Posted October 19 I won't deny that M is an absolute masterpiece so I can't be too upset at a #2 placement. However, it's surprising to see it so high when other mega-classics are punched out so early ddd
